A CBI special court on Wednesday remanded Amjad Khan to CBI custody for 5 days a day after a whopping Rs 13.45 crore was recovered during a raid in Guwahati.
The entire amount is understood to have been kept by his brother in law of R H Khan, the accused in the multi crore scam in the North Cachar Hills district. Khan, the deputy director of the social welfare district attached to this hills district has been absconding after procuring bail.
He was chargesheeted by CBI as it was probing the case few months back. The deputy director along with a circle of his colleagues and contractors has siphoned off a huge amount meant for development of the hills district.
Later, part of the amount reached the terrorist outfit DHD(J) who procured arms. The This was what the first one terror funding case the National Investigation Agency took up since it was set up by the Centre.
Notably, Amjad is understood to have admitted that R H Khan kept the money at his residence. With this, the entire case will take a new turn.
