Protest rally in Kojrajhar

Many student bodies in Kokrajhar took out a huge rally in Friday demanding CBI probe into the killing of Lafikul Islam Ahmed which took place 18 days ago.

Many students participated in the rally organised by All BTC Minority Students’ Union(ABMSU) who came from far flung areas of BTAD areas.

With banners and festoons in their hands, thousands of students shouted slogans raising the demands. The protestors, mostly, represented ABMSU, All Bodo Students Union(ABSU), All Assam Students Union (AASU), All Assam Minority Students Union (AAMSU), All Assam Gorkha Students Union (AAGSU), AASAA,All Santhali Students Union(ASSU),Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad(AJYCP),Bengali Youth Students Federation,Goria Moria Yuva Chatra Parishad,Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti(KMSS),AKRSU who raised the demand.

 The rally started from Rashmela ground via RNB Road,civil lines Road to DC office and later submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Assam through the Deputy Commissioner,Kokrajhar seeking CBI inquiry and justice to the Lafikul Islam killing as soon as possible.

The students also demanded seizure of illegal arms and ammunitions in BTAD region, take necessary steps to check all kinds of syndicates including cow steps smuggling in the state of Assam,make a security vigil to check sfaety and securit of live and properties in BTAD area as well across the state are prominent demands that placed in the memorandum.

 Kokrajhar Lok Sabha MP Naba Kumar Sarania also participated in the rally and demanded early arrests of involved main culprits of Lafikul murder case.Sarania demanded CBI inquiry into Lafikul killing case.

He has alleged that government has no intention to nab main culprits, so announcement of CBI investigation has been delayed. He said that involved culprits are flying open in the region,said Sarania.He has urged government to conduct strong investigation into student leader murder case.

 The ABMSU and student union bodies set a seven day dateline to the government to make publicly whatever SIT investigation has been doing in its reality investigation. They have warned for vigorous movement if government fail to arrests involved culprits by the days. 

Shakamal Khandakar,general secretary of ABMSU alleged that state government has been delayed the announcement of CBI investigtaion into Lafikul killing case,so far it has passed eighteen days from the murder date.He said that police administration as well state government have been failed to check and arrests involved culprits with Lafikul murder case.

Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) team won the trophy defeating Lai Autonomous Council (LADC) of Mizoram 1-0 in the final match of inter sixth schedule premier league -2022 being held at SAI SAG center,Kathalguri Titaguri in Kokrajhar district. Professor Indira Boro, head of the department of Bodo for Bodoland University, has been named for an award from the Sahitya Akademy for translation in Bodo language. Amid a strict security vigil, arrested Gujrat Congress MLA Jignesh Mevani was brought to Kokrajhar police station and later produced before the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) court. KOKRAJHAR: A Ganja smuggler was shot at by police in the Bishmuri area of Kokrajhar district late Wednesday night. The incident happened  in Kokrajhar in Bishmuri. KOKRAJHAR: The police nabbed three people with 91 Kgs of Ganja on Karigaon national highway in Kokrajhar on Wednesday.. The arrested persons were identified as Hasanur Rahman, Mithun Miya of Mankachar and Mukesh Kumar of Bihar. BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary was granted bail on Saturday and released against case CR 34/2020, accused of section 120-B/500 IPC from CJM court in Kokrajhar. Pramod Boro, the president of the United People’s Party of Luwahati, filed a complaint against  Mohilary, the former chief of Bodoland Territorial Council, at the court of CJM Kokrajhar for making derogatory remarks about him in February 2020.
