The recent apprehension of three school going students in an one year old death case of another minor school student has created sensation in Udalguri district.Sidon Basumatari (14) son of Bapan Basumatari of Khoirabari,a meritorious student of Diamond English School,Harisinga in Udalguri district was found dead hanging with a gamocha from the window of his school hostel on November 8 in 2016.The school authority lodged an FIR at Harisinga police station describing it a case of suicide.Police also accordingly closed the case. But Bapan Basumatari, father of Sidon was not convinced. He alleged that his son was killed by his own school mates. "The theory of suicide being propogated by school authority is fictional and narrative",he said to people last year.He also filed a counter FIR at Harisinga police station last year.He also engaged informers to collect informations from a few suspected students of the same school. Finally his attempts bore fruits when the informer could collect recording of the confession of three suspected students who had killed his son brutally in the night of November 8 at the school hostel.According to information Sidon Basumatari was a brilliant and honest student in the school. He used to report misdeeds of a few students to teachers. He also used to advise a few notorious students to study well and learn manners from him. This made them annoyed. According to their confession,Allen Daimari took leave from school two days prior to the incident. He arrived at the school secretly on November 7 night and along with other two students namely-Diljit Daimari and Nitu Sonowal  brutally killed Sidon in his room.Later they placed the body in hanging position showing it a case of suicide. The role of the principal of Diamond English School,Harisinga had been suspicious from the beginning, alleged Bapan Basumatari. The principal was changing his version time to time, may be to save the prestige of his school,he said to media. Finally at the intervension of the ADGP, Assam and other high ranking police officials of Assam police officially arrested Allen Daimari and Diljit Daimari on September 1.The other accused Nitu Sonowal too has been arrested on September 3 from Dibrugarh. All of them have been remanded to judicial custody at Udalguri. But they have been granted interim bail by court under juvenile laws.
