Sonowal to attend APCU Conference
The APCU (Assam Press Correspondent Union) 6th Bi-Annual Conference meet will take place in Dibrugarh Lakhminath Bezbaruah Bhawan Chowkidingee on December 23 and 24.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will be present as the Chief Guest. Dr. Nogen Saikia will inaugurate the open session to be presided over by Tilak Phukan.

Security forces are fanning in the nook and corner of Tinsukia district to flush out ULFA militants who are believe to have been hiding to strike.
Maximum vigilance is concentrated along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border. Police and paramilitary forces are continuing a combing operation in view of the ULFA threat on the Hindi-speaking people who evoked wrath for blaming the outfit for the killing of the Tinsukia trader along with his daughter.
All dense forest areas are teeming with security forces although no hardcore ULFA militant has been arrested so far.
Vital areas like roads and bridges, oil and gas installations along with the Hindi-speaking people inhibited areas are being guarded to avoid any ULFA strike.
Notably, ULFA banned two Bhojpuri organizations foe blaming all on the outfit for the Bijulibon incident where gunmen killed a trader and his daughter.

The Centre is quite unhappy with the law and order in Assam along with Manipur and Nagaland. Addressing the Chief Ministers’ Sumit in New Delhi on Monday, prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh and home minister P Chidambaram said the things have remained unchanged in these three north eastern states.
The Prime Minister said funds for border development have remained unutilized and that North Cachar hills anf BTAD areas are still on the boil.
In his speech Chidambaram cleared that the Centre would talk to the insurgent outfits only if they surrender. The home minister also said the ceasefire ground laws would be strictly followed in the north eastern states.

The Centre’ decision to institute CBI probe into the assassination of Lafikul Islam Ahmed has brought a ray of hope for his family members.
Talking to Assam Times, his family members said that the CBI probe will be able to nab main culprits’ thorough investigations, who were involved with Lafikul murder case.
Lafikul was shot dead on August 1 last at Titaguri bazaar in Kokrajhar by motor cycle borne armed miscreants. The ABMSU and several organizations have been demanded CBI inquire into Lafikul murder case and on Monday Union DONER minister Jitendra Singh informed to CM Sarbananda Sonowal about the handing over CBI to investigate the Lafikul murder case.
Mohidull Islam,younger brother,Shahjahan Sheik,father hailed the CBI investigation into killing and involved culprits would be booked through CBI inquiry.
