Community marriage passed off peacefully

Nearly 250 couples have been tie-knot at a mass marriage ceremony at Kachugaon Public High School ground in Kokrajhar district on Thursday.

Community marriage ceremony brings happy married life among Saotali community, which witnesses of irrespective of communities at Kachugaon in Kokrajhar district on Thursday,which was organised jointly by Hindu Saotali Lek Ashar Rukhia Baishi(Hindu Saotali Sangskriti Suraksha Society) and Seva Bharati Purbanchal, Guwahati.

  Huge couples,who are coming from economically backward from remote villages of Kokrajhar and Dhubri districts were tie-knot on the day with creating festivity like environment in the area. The ground saw huge spectators to witness the mass wedding function in the region.

 The mass marriage has been witnessing huge gathering of citizens through Saotali rituals. The priests performed the wedding ceremony as groom and bridegrooms were dressed new clothes to get married on their life.

Peoples from all sections of communities extended their best wishes to the newly married couples that were tie knot in a public.

Assam minister Naba Kumar Doley and Brindaban Maharaj Amritananda atteneded the function and blessed all newly wedded couples.

Newly wedded couples expressed thor gratitude as they got opportunity to be part of the mass marriage by social organisations.

'I am very much lucky one to be tie knot today publicly in my life', said Himadri Hasda, a newly married person from Srirampur.

'Today I got my life partner through the mass wedding. I am feeling happy because my new life has been started from today ", said Snehi Murmu,a newly married woman from Kachugaon village.

 Doley while extending his best wishes to all newly married couples said that peoples of this area are getting a healthy environment as social organisations have been arranged a mass marriage function to pave way new life among common citizens.

' It was an initiative for bringing social integration among grassroot citizens who are living hand to mouth. The mass marriage function has been giving a ray of new life in their family leading ', he said.

Assam confirms its second H1N1 virus infection case

Assam on Tuesday has confirms its second swine flu cases within a
period of four days. The confirmation came from the Regional Medical
Research Centre at Lahowal in Dibrugarh three days later an army
jawans was admitted at the Basistha based hospital in Guwahati.
He is identified as Raj Kumar Sinha, an army jawan. Immediately after
he was suspected to be a case of H1N1 virus infection, his sputum
samples were sent to RMCH for test.
Notably, Assam confirmed its first case of the kind on Saturday when a
21 year old boy from Pune Dhiraj Yadav tested positive after he came
to Guwahati. According to information, Dhiraj, who is undergoing
treatment at the MMC Hospital in Guwahati is table.

Cleanliness Drive By FCI and SOS Children's Village marks Gandhi Jayanti in Hojai.

Hojai- In a bid to aware people and To mark the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatama Gandhi Food Corporation Of India , Food Storage Depot in Hojai Organised Swachta Hi Seva programme on Tuesday at FCI campus in Hojai with day long activities. A mass awareness rally was taken out by the energetic workers of FCI in the presence of Anil Kumar Burma,Area Manager,Nagaon , Deepak Kumar, Manager, FCI,FSD,Hojai and Biju Das, Ex-Manager,FCI,Hojai at the FCI campus.During the whole rally  they were holding placards that read slogan of Swach Bharat.Speaking on the Occasion, Area Manager Anil Kumar Burma said," This is the beginning, it's our responsibility to keep our surroundings neat and clean,Our duty is highly important as We are Food supplier from here only food goes to everyone's home." He lauded the efforts of Deepak Kumar,Manager,FCI, Hojai, under whose direction this significant programme was organised in a befitting manner. Deepak Kumar said," Swachhta Hi Sewa campaign began in Hojai from 15th September  to 2nd October, during this 17 days we have worked as per the responsibility that was assigned to us as per mail from our Headquater in New Delhi." "To encourage the workers, a token of appreciation momento was presented  to some of them",he added. Also, Neem tree's were planted in the FCI premises.

On the other hand, SOS CHILDREN'S VILLAGE paid tribute to Father of the Nation with Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at Civil Hospital in Hojai on Tuesday. Children's of SOS along with Village Director Paresh Badyakar cleaned Civil Hospital Campus and also distributed fruits between the patients. Talking to this Correspondent , Village Director Paresh Badyakar said," SOS Children Village participating in this abhiyan to inculcate the good attitudes towards the nation and within themselves.

Congressman Phani Sarma passes away

Noted sports organizer and senior Congress leader Phani Sarma breathed his last at his own residence at Bamunimaidam here at 7.15 a.m. today. He was 76.He was the treasurer of ruling Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) and also involved with many other socio-cultural organizations of the State. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and Assam Congress president Bhubaneswar Kalita deeply mourned the death of Sarma and said that the state had lost a dedicated sports organizer at his death. They also prayed to the almighty for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed their deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
