Sonowal chants Sab Ka Vikas mantra

TANGLA: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said his government has been working to ensure equal development,
opportunity to all sections of the people reiterating the strong commitment for inclusive development and progress as a whole.

 

Addressing the open session of the 15th Adivasi Mahasabha organized by AASAA on Sunday afternoon in Udalguri, he said the Adivasis are the driving strength of the greater Assamese society. Paying rich tributes to the founder president All Adivasi Students' Association of Assam (AASAA) Late Justin Lakra , Sonowal said  that Lakra strived hard to unite and strengthen  the Adivasi people.He assured of extending aid in building an auditorium in the Khokabasti area

in memory of tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda. Earlier the open session inaugurated by AASAA CEC President, Pradeep Nag addressed as appointed speaker by President of Adivasi Sahitya Sabha, Wilfred Topno. Topno expressed grave concern on the step motherly attitude of the government towards resolving the issues plaguing the community.

He exhorted for proper implementation the Right to Education Act,Traditional Forest Dwellers' Act and job reservation,he also said that the Adivasis are being deprived of the right to education, electricity, health care, drinking water and other basic facilities in the state. Revenue Minister Pallab Lochan Das assured them of all possible steps towards the uplift of the marginalized community
including construction of houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana by pact with tea garden authorities,electrification under forthcoming 'Subhagya' scheme among others. Rajya Sabha MP Santiuse Kujur said," the government has been playing a hide-and-seek game with the Adivasi people of the state on the ST issue.
