Its a dream come true: United AGP stands again in Assam

Its a big big day for regional politics in Assam. Despite stiff resistance the main Opposition Asom Gana Parishad on Tuesday announced its unification of regional forces with former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, Pulakesh Baruah, Atul Bora, Pabindra Deka et al. The epoch-making moment came up when the regional party was holding its function to mark its foundation day in Golaghat where the party was born in 1985.

AGP president Chandra Mohan Patowary announced unification of AGP(P) led by Mahanta, Trinamool Gana Parishad led under the leadership of Pulakesh Baruah and Atul Bora. All they shaked their hands with smiling faces mending all differences in the crowded function.

On the other hand, the All Assam Students Union leaders and activists across the state observed Betrayal Day opposing the home coming of Mahanta. The state's powerful student body has been protesting the entry of Mahanta terming him the betrayer besides being the man behind the infamous secret killings.

There are reports that AASU leaders and workers across the states blocked roads, staged dharna on Tuesday in protest against Mahanta's home coming. In several places, police had to disperse the AASU picketers for blocking the national highways.

But the united AGP leaders are confident the AASU would reconsider the decision. On Monday, AGP and its breakaway group AGP(P) leadership hoped that the AASU will leave the matter right now for an united AGP atleast to defeat Congress.

It is a fatal mistake for the party to once again welcome the betrayal leader. Once he was lost with dreams and fancies of his own but now he comes back to bring chaos in the party.The ultimate decision could be made by the people of Assam whether he will dynamic leader or betrayal.

The Asom Gana Parishad is a party of BETRAYERS.......remember Assam Movement,then election of the AGP to power twice....10 years of corruption, misrule....appeasing Bangladeshis after the agitation, secret killings of Assamese people in villages and towns of Assam, license to open wine shops anywhere and everywhere, suicide of ASTC employees and teachers for non-payment of salary, 400 crore LOC scam......the list goes on and on...... Prafulla Kumar Mahanta is the greatest Demon ever born in the history of Assam.

AGP dumps BJP, seeks regional parties

After months of politcal confabulation, the opposition AGP formally has decided to snap its poll pact with BJP. The decision was cleared on Monday as the party was holding its general council meet in Guwahati.Presided over by Chandramohan Patowary, the meeting discussed some major poll issues to approach the people thereof.Former opposition leader and inister Brindabon Goswami was conspicuous by his absence from this general body meeting. The regional party further discussed the ganasongyug yatra and tremendous response thereof in upper Assam.

ULFA frees Subba's newphew free

Former Congress MP Mani Kumar Subba's newphew Ajoyraj Subba is back to home after 14 days after suspected ULFA militants kidnapped him at gunpoint from Bordubi. Subba owns a small tea estate arrived in his Tinsukia based residene on Monday midnight. He is understood to have released from Tirap area in Arunachal Pradesh. But Subba is not aware of what took place as after he was kidnapped by a few youths at gunpoint from Bordubi Chariali a few days back. He was freed 12 hour after the Gorkha Students Union enforced upper Assam bandh demanding his immediate relase. Initially, it was suspected to be a handiwork of ULFA. But the banned insurgent outfit is yet to clear its position.

Golaghat bandh total; 4 injured

A 12 hour district wide bandh disrupted Golaghat the entire district on Saturday. The bandh which began at 6 in the morning was total and full. Barring a few stray incidents, the bandh was by and large peaceful. Four persons have been injured when a section of local business businessmen clashed with police personnel at Merapani in the morning. The bandh was called by Asomia Yuva Manch in protest against the recent lathicharge on protesting students by Nagaland police. 50 years old beaten up on molestation charge at Nazira

People of ward no. 6 of Nazira town, Sivasagar district have captured one Anil Mahali (50) on Friday, when he tried to molest a 5 years old girl. Later the accused was handed over to the police.

Dispur,Kohima order probe into Golaghat lathicharge

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and his Nagaland counterpart Neiphu Rio have ordered probe into the recent lathicharge in Golaghat by Nagaland armed forces. An apex Naga students body has also expressed grave concern over the action of Nagaland police personnel on demonstrators of All Assam Students Union in Golaghat district of the neighbouring state. Deka for medical college in Rongiya

Assam MP from Mongoldoi Ramen Deka demands a medical college in Rongiya. In a letter to railway minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday, Deka said a medical college at Rongiya will be of great help in Rongia to address the growing numbers of patients in the entire north bank of Brahmaputra. Sonia to select APCC president

Making and end to all prevaiing controversy and confusion, the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee has left it over to Congress president Sonia Gandhi. A resolution to this effect adopted on Sunday was passed on Wednesday before it was sent to Sonia Gandhi.
