Its a dream come true: United AGP stands again in Assam

Its a big big day for regional politics in Assam. Despite stiff resistance the main Opposition Asom Gana Parishad on Tuesday announced its unification of regional forces with former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, Pulakesh Baruah, Atul Bora, Pabindra Deka et al. The epoch-making moment came up when the regional party was holding its function to mark its foundation day in Golaghat where the party was born in 1985.

AGP president Chandra Mohan Patowary announced unification of AGP(P) led by Mahanta, Trinamool Gana Parishad led under the leadership of Pulakesh Baruah and Atul Bora. All they shaked their hands with smiling faces mending all differences in the crowded function.

On the other hand, the All Assam Students Union leaders and activists across the state observed Betrayal Day opposing the home coming of Mahanta. The state's powerful student body has been protesting the entry of Mahanta terming him the betrayer besides being the man behind the infamous secret killings.

There are reports that AASU leaders and workers across the states blocked roads, staged dharna on Tuesday in protest against Mahanta's home coming. In several places, police had to disperse the AASU picketers for blocking the national highways.

But the united AGP leaders are confident the AASU would reconsider the decision. On Monday, AGP and its breakaway group AGP(P) leadership hoped that the AASU will leave the matter right now for an united AGP atleast to defeat Congress.

It is a fatal mistake for the party to once again welcome the betrayal leader. Once he was lost with dreams and fancies of his own but now he comes back to bring chaos in the party.The ultimate decision could be made by the people of Assam whether he will dynamic leader or betrayal.

The Asom Gana Parishad is a party of BETRAYERS.......remember Assam Movement,then election of the AGP to power twice....10 years of corruption, misrule....appeasing Bangladeshis after the agitation, secret killings of Assamese people in villages and towns of Assam, license to open wine shops anywhere and everywhere, suicide of ASTC employees and teachers for non-payment of salary, 400 crore LOC scam......the list goes on and on...... Prafulla Kumar Mahanta is the greatest Demon ever born in the history of Assam.

The All Assam Students Union has blasted political clique in Assam for not getting the Assam Accord inplemented in toto. This has forced the students body to release a white paper on the implementation of the Accord 25 years later on Friday. The organisation leaders are all set to stage a hunger strike in Guwahati from 6 in the morning on Saturday till the unfurling of the national tricolour on Sunday morning. Talking to reporters, AASU leaders said they would organise sit-in-Satyagraha in Guwahati demanding total implementation of the Assam Accord.They further demanded apology from apology for thier failure.
Panic grips in Sivasagar town following the recovery of a powerful bomb on Friday evening. The bomb was recovered from the ASTC Bus Stand which was kept inside an unclaimed bag. Later it was defused by police and army.
Altogether five people, including three of a family, were killed when lightning struck them in a field in in Goalpara district Friday. AGP president Chandra Mohan Patowary is all set to quit as Opposition leader to pave the way Prafulla Kumar Mahanta to replace him. According to Patowary, he would get time to devote for the party. He said the party has a lot to be done to ensure good performance in the next assembly polls. A three-day camp on free and open source software called “FOSSilize” is going to be held at IIT Guwahati campus on September 3-5. The goal of the event is to increase the awareness, integration and adoption of free and open source software (FOSS) tools among the students.
