Namrup NGO promises to protect nature

Namrup: Assam has no dearth of organization to uplift three environment. But all if them have nit been achieving the desired results. Some of these non governmental organizations have been doing their best to restore a natural environment at a time when the entire world is worried over pollution and denigration of the green skin that keeps this planet safe.

This was more or less of what the speakers at a function said as they lauded Heuji Sangh in its foundation day celebration in Namrup on Wednesday.

The leading non governmental organization which aims at the promotion of the natural beauty and bounty celebrated the day at the Namrup  BVFCL (Brahmaputra Fertilizer Corporation Limited) staff Club Auditorium to be graced by many prominent people who heaped huge praise on the officials and workers.

Sishuram Gogoi presided over the programme where secretary of the organization Soumin Mahant said, "  The word Seuji stands for environment. It is our first step in Namrup to make it green and clean.”

Mahanta further dwelt at length the achievement of the organization and the course of action in the store. In his presidential address, Sishuram Gogoi said,”  we will never deviate from our aims and objectives. We have some solemn promises.  During Diwali we will try to reduce the use of fireworks in Namrup and instead we will use only country made earthen lamps". 

A few local leading people have been felicitated in the solemn celebration acknowledging their dedicated social services from their own fields. They include Smrity Rekha Kalita, the Pratidin correspondent, who received the Pandit Surendra Narayan Memorial State award.

The guests who graced on the occasion include  Mayurakhi Mahanta , Madhurjya Mukul Dutta , Rima Kakoti Mahanta , Rajib Boruah , Noted photographer Paragmoni boruah , Prajalita Dutta Bora , Krishna Bokoliyal.

People in the Namrup daily bazar paid their homage to the Pulwama martyrs.  The programme was organsied by daily bazaar shop keepers assoctiation and local people of the area.
The 11 hour Assam bandh called by North East Students Organization ( NESO ) and All Assam Student Union ( AASU ) , supported by many other organizations opposing the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 was total in Namrup. The town wore a deserted look as vehicles of all kinds remained off the road. Schools and colleges, shops and markets, banks and offices were seen closed. The bandh supporters burnt tyers at Namrup Sonari Tiniali , BVFCL Main Gate , APL Main Gate and Sarmah Tiniali to stop the movement of vehicles.
The Namrup regional unit of All Assam Student Union ( AASU ) organsied protest against the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 by blocking the road and burning tyers at Sonari tiniali. The demonstrators shouted slogans against the state and central governments exibiting play card "Kendriya Government Hai Hai, Raijya Sarkar Murdabad, Mukhyamantri kam nai". More than one hundred AASU activists and local people took part in the protest.
The year long Golden Jubilee of Namrup Sahitya Sabha is coming to an end with various cultural programmes. The programme was inagurated by working president Satrasingh Deuri. Seminar, poetry, cultural night, Book release were part of the event.
Namrup: AASU regional Committee observed the Swahid Divas on Monday with hosting of flag in Namrup Sonari Tiniali Swahid Mandap by regional committee president Kalpajit Gogoi. Assam Jatiyata Badi Yuba chatra Parishad , Namrup Tai Ahom Student Union  ,  Fertiliser Workers Union , Fertiliser  Swarmik Union , Gramya Unnayan Sangha etc and schools  and colleges representative took part in the event.
Polling concluded peacefully in the  three  panchayats - Kachari Pathar, Namrup and Santipur Panchayat - with 75 percent voter turnout. Situation became tense when more than 50 voters were deprived from voting in Santipur.

"We totally regret that our Chief Minister and the Prime Minister are playing games with our motherland. The largest ancient Hindu festival, dedicated to Lord Surya and Chhathi Maiya (known to be the wife of Surya), Chhath Puja is unique to the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Eastern Uttar Pradesh and the country of Nepal. It is the only Vedic festival that is dedicated to the Sun God. The festival was celebrated in Namrup and it's neighbouring area with flavours on Tuesday.  
Namrup: There was total bandh in Namrup during the Assam Bandh called by 46 organisations in the state opposing citizenship amendment Bill 2016. Protesters burnt tyres in BVFCL Main Gate,  Sonari Tiniali, Namghar Chariali, Salibasa. Marketing complex, Schools, colleges, Government and private offices, Banks were all closed during the bandh.
