BPF, BJP alliance in LS election

Kokrajhar:  Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) chief Hagrama Mohilary said that BPF-BJP alliance will continue in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the state. BPF will put its candidate in Kokrajhar Lok Sabha seat only and extending support to the alliance partners in other seats of the state.

Mohilary informed that BPF is fully prepared to contest the election in Kokrajhar only and party’s candidate will be winning with people’s support. BPF party is supporting alliance partnar BJP in other seats.

He has claimed that if alliance comes in between BJP, BPF, AGP in the state, then BPF is getting one, AGP getting 2, and BJP getting 10 seats in the elections. Congress may get one seat in the state.

World Anti Child labour Day observed in Hojai

Focussing on the theme of the World Anti Child Labour Day on Wednesday  Sadau Assam Gramya Puthibharal Santha in association with Childline Sub centre Hojai district organised an awareness program at hall of  Srimanta Sankardev junior college of Sankardev Nagar in Hojai. 

The programme began with the objectives of the day pointing the theme of this year “ Children should not work in field but in dream” by the district coordinator, Hojai district, Tilaram Orang.

Srimati Beauti Gogi, Legal cum Probationer Officer, district child protection unit, Hojai; Dr. Prodip Kumar Sahoo, the founder of Small Steps (for better future) and Ex Lecturer, Hojai college;  Md Mustafa Kamal from Sadau Assam Gramya Puthibharal Santha; Sri Charan Singh Chauhan, Principal of Srimanta Sankardev Junior college; Sri Manuranjan Sarma, Assistant teacher,Sankardev Nagar High School graced the Occasion as guests.

Speaking on the occasion, Srimati  Gogi  mentioned about child labour  and legal related issue with it. 

Md Kamal made us aware about Juvenile justice Act, about child rights and the initiative taken by Sadau Assam Gramya Puthibharal Sangha to give shelter to special child of our society.

Dr Sahoo began his speech with a patriotic song for children “Ek Do Ek Do Bdhte Kadam Bharat Maa Ke Bache Hum, Nahi Rukenge , Nahi Jhukenge, Aage Badhte Rahenge Hum, Agee Badhte Rahenge Hum” and shared his experiences of different aspects related to child in our society. 

He said about interdisciplinary issues and role of parents, teachers for the well being of our children and to come forward to protect our forth coming citizen for the better future of our country.

In this connection he gave examples of some of ideal personalities of the world to motivate the students of different age groups. 

Charan Singh Chauhan praised the initiative of the childlne sub centre for the special day of anti child labour since the children are the future of our country and their protection from every mean is so important.

Manuranjan Sarma who chaired the event concluded with his speech and urged everyone to come together to solve the problem related to the child labour.

Around 260 people  including Staffs of Childline sub centre,  teachers of Sankardev Nagar High School, Sankardev Nagar jr college and students attended the programme. 
 

CEM Thaosen inaugurates exhibition

With the inauguration of exhibition of different development departments of Dima Hasao Autonomous Council by the Chief Executive Member, Sri Debojeet Thaosen, the 61st Foundation Day of Dima Hasao Autonomous Council begins on Saturday.


After the inauguration CEM Thaosen along with Executive Mmbers and Members of Autonomous Council inspected all the stalls of different departments.


Ths was follwed by the seminar on Dima Hasao Autonomous Council : Milestones and Challenges Ahead. This was moderated by Sri Kalijay Sengyung, Executive Member. Sri Kulendra Daulagupu, MAC delivered the keynote address detailing council’s power and function. He also discussed the challenges faced by the council.


Sri T. Nampui, Ex- EM, Sri Obasting Pachuan, Ex- EM, Sri Sumit Nag, Professor, Haflong Government college, Sri Kebaron naiding, President, Dimasa Students’ Union were the appointed speakers.

Blast in Guwahati bound train: 3 killed

At least 3 people died and twenty others have sustained injury when a powerful blast rocked the Guwahati-B’lore Express in Chennai on Thursday.

The explosion took place at the Chennai Central Station at the No 9 platform immediately after the Guwahati-B’lore Express train arrived en route to Guwahati there at 7.10 in the morning.

All injured have been rushed to the hospital. Details are awaited.
