Madhavdev Award to Devoraj Sapkota

TANGLA: The Prestigious Madhavdev Award was ceremoniously confered to Litterateur, Devoraj Sapkota who is also the president of Udalguri chapter Zila Sahitya Sabha, at Sundaridiya Satra, Barpeta on Monday last on the grand occasion of three day long celebration of 530th Avirbhav Mahotsav of Mahapurush Madhavdev. The award carries a commendation certificate,a phulam japi,a seleng chador and a cash prize of Rs.10,000. Satradhikar Jagannath Dev Adhikari, Satradhikar of Sundaridiya Satra of Barpeta,Dhireswar Bayan, secretary of Satra Parichalana Samiti presented the award to Sapkota in recognization of his contribution to the Satriya art and culture by way of translating Kirtan Ghosha,Gunmala, Borgeets and Bhakti Pradeep by Mahapurush Sankardeva, Namghosha by Mahapurush Madhabdeva into the Nepali literature. Nirmal Adhikari,Deka Satriya of Sundaridiya Satra of Barpeta and Rosy Devi Bhuyan, renowned singer enthralled the audience with Borgeets in Assamese and Nepali respectively. Udalguri Zila Sahitya Sabha and Udalguri Sahitya Sabha congratulated Sapkota for his achievement.

“If there is any community in the State which is exploited and deprived economically and socio-politically, it is none other than the Adivasi community.” This was observed by Rihon Daimari, State Food and Civil Supply and PHE Minister at Orangajuli market complex ground in Udalguri on Tuesday. Daimari attended the open session as chief guest marking the killings of eight protesters who died of bullet wounds during a 12-hour strike to demand ST status for Adivasis, way back in July 25, 2003. Daimari said that the sacrifice of those eight protesters would be an inspiration for generations to come. Their sacrifice will not go in vain. The Adivasi community will reap its fruits, he said....
Rameshwar Lalji Mewara a noted buisinessman and philantrophist of Tangla left for his heavenly abode at his own residence due to old age ailments .He was 90. He was actively associated with various social and religious institutions like Tangla Vishnu Mandir, Tangla Chamber of Commerce.He leaves behind his four sons ,two daughters and a host of relatives and well wishers.His death was widely mourned by Jayanta Bhattacharya Assistant General Secretary AASU,Udalguri district committee AASU have also expressed deep condolences at his demise. A three day long summer arts and craft workshop,  conducted by Lotus Fine Art Society of Tangla concluded here at Adarsha Vidyapith school premises on Sunday. The workshop attended by nearly 80 participants of all age group was graced as resource person by eminent artist of state Dadul Chaliha along with Bhanu Paul of Dhubri. The Zubeen Fan Club members of Udalguri inspired by singer Zubeen Garg went on a collection drive on the streets of Tangla town for the flood affected people on Tuesday. Nearly 25 members led by its President Gunjit Mahanta and Secretary Kaushik Das visited weekly market,banks and commercial establishments . Pramila Daimari has been selected to represent India in Womens Archery team for Berlin 2017 Hyundai Archery World Cup Stage 4 to be held in Berlin of Germany from August 8 - 13 2017 next. Unwarranted sand mining is adding to the plight of the Nonai River in Udalguri district. The 28 families living in Paschim Nalbari village under Mouza Dakua of Harisinga Revenue Circle office have been spending sleepless nights due to detrimental government policies. Asom Gorkha Sammelan, Udalguri district has condoled the death of veteran politician and Gorkha leader Nar Bahadur Bhandari, the three time Chief Minister of Sikkim .Bhandari passed away in the age of 78 at Medanta-The Medacity Hospital of New Delhi after brief illness on July 16. He took a torchbearer role in the revolution of Nepali language.
