Barhoongkha lifts football trophy
KOKRAJHAR: Barhoongkha Athletic Club, Kokrajhar defeated Jothai Sports Club, Gendrabill 3-0 in the final match to lift the first Kamaleswar Basumatary and Charu Bala Basumatary football running trophy-2019 being organised here at Banargaon rural mini stadium on Monday in Kokrajhar district.
The football trophy was organised by Banargaon Jaiklong Club cum Library which was started from 15th September and concluded on Monday with final match.
For Barhoongkha,Mithinga Narzary netted first goal in 14th minutes of the first half against Jothai.Again, Fulung Daimary of Barhoongkha scored another goal in 24th minutes of first half and gathered the team 2-0 till first half. Funhkha Brahma of Barhoongkha scored one more goal against Jothai in 82nd minutes of the second half.Jothai had tried to reduce the goals during the full time of the match and lost to Barhoongkha and thus Barhoongkha beat Jothai 3-0.
Fulung Daimary of Barhoongkha was adjusted as best player in the tournament.
BTC executive members Doneswar Goyary,Rajib Brahma were graced as guests and handed over the championship and runners up trophies to the winning team and runners up team.
The championship team was awarded a trophy and cash INR 30,000 and runners up team was given away a trophy and cash INR.20,000 respectively.
Amongst others,noted sports organisers Pradip Dey,Saradha Prasad Paul,Sajen Brahma,Kabiranjan Brahma,Pradip Chandra Basumatary were prominent attendees on the prize distribution ceremony.

Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Narzary has represented India in several international events and is the daughter of Biswajit Narzary of Khagrabari village in Kokrajhar district. The award will be presented to her during the Baokhungri festival celebration at Baokhungri Hill site near Harinaguri in Kokrajhar.
