Homen Borgohain speaks at Karunadhara's awareness meet

"No one in Sorrow should  be left alone", said Homen Borgohain, Noted Writer, while he graced as Chief Guest in an awareness programme organised by Karunadhara (an NGO) at J.K Kedia Smriti Bhawan in Hojai on Saturday.

Borgohain said ,"Life is a precious blessing from almighty to help the needy ones  and use it in productive manner for the well being of others , addind  he exhorted everyone to help the underpriveledged ones  as per their capacity for  over all upliftment of the society."

"Money  alone cann't buy happiness, but the works we do for the welfare of the down trodden ones will surely make us happy thereby make our life in true sense  a meaningful one", Borgohain added.

He further highlighted on the significance of Kindness with lots of examples.

The awareness meeting was presided over by Nawazuddin Ahmed, President Karunadhara Hojai unit which was graced along with the Chief Guest by Pratul Phukan, President Karunadhara Central Unit along with many other eminent guests.

During the programme homeage was paid infront of the portrait of Noted Educationist  Subrata Chakraborty, who passed away on October 28 last and a souvenir was released on his life, which was edited by Srimanta Madhav Sarma.


Jayanto Choudhury,Special trainer for Disabled People  was feliciated on this occasion  for his enormous contribution to uplift the life of disabled ones.

Many guests and youths contributed as per their capacity to the NGO for continuing their welfare programmes.


People from all the walks of life attended the awareness meet. The programme was anchored by Anup Kumar Barthakur, Secretary, Karunadhara Hojai Unit.

Notably,  Karunadhara is a non-Government registered Trust dedicating itself for promoting overall well being of persons suffering from physical or mental disability and for enabling financially weak critically ill persons to avail of costly specialised treatment. In addition to providing required financial aid to such needy persons, Karunadhara has also been taking up various measures to develop lalent talent and raise social status of physically and / or mentally challenged persons .

Protest march in Nilbagan

Hojai: More than 2000 people took to the streets in Nilbagan area in Hojai on Monday evening demanding justice for the Asifa Bano along with other victims of sexual crimes across the country. With banners and play cards, the youths took out the candle light march at the initiatives of the local youths of Nilbagan which ended at the Tinali. Hojai: The Kids Of Kinder Garden School in Hojai  Celebrated Rongali Bihu with traditional fervour on Saturday. Hailstorm turns Hojai into Kashmir

HOJAI: Hojai, the headquarter of the newly created central Assam district suddenly turned into Kashmir after a huge hailstorm that lashed the town for half an hour on Friday.Hailstorm accompanied by rain lashed a huge area at 3.45 in the afternoon amid thunder and lightening which lasted till 4.15 leaving the entire area in a Kashmir-like state with huge hailstones covering the surface.People in large number came out of the houses after the rain and found it utterly surprised to have looked the post hailstorm scene that disrupted normal life. Hojai civic body chief, aide axed

HOJAI: Assam BJP unit has expelled two leaders of the Hojai Municipality Board alleging anti party activities triggering no less crises in the civic body.In a letter circulated on April 5, 2018, party general secretary Dilip Saikia said HMB chairperson Mamata Dey and Vice chairman Samir Sarkar have been expelled for involving in the anti party activities.The duo faced the action after the consent from state party president Ranjit Kumar Das. 3 held for legacy data forgery

Hojai: The Hojai police have arrested 3 people for using false documents to update NRC. Identified as Subhas Das, Raju Das and Hemanta Nath, they were arrested before sending to jail on Saturday acting on a complaint of using false legacy data to the NRC officials. The police on Friday received a complaint from Ratan Das of Gobindapally  alleging that the trio have used his father’s legacy data to update NRC which came to light  during the ongoing family tree verification process. Car lifters held in Hojai

Hojai: The Daboka Police in Hojai caught two notorious car lifters acting on a false complaint filed by the duo on Thursday. Identified as Aamir Hussain and Emamul Hussain, they lifted a car and sold it in Dimapur and lodged an FIR at Daboka Police Station on Wednesday alleging that their Bolero Pick Up AS 02 BC 1459 was forcibly taken away by robbers at Shalbagan area as they were going towards Dimapur. Rape and murder attempt rocks Doboka

HOJAI: The Doboka police in Hojai is looking for Jotan Debnath a day after he tried to kill his niece for failing to sexually exploit her. The incident took place on Tuesday at a tiny hamlet in Doboka were Juton tried to rape the minor girl in the evening in the absence of her parents. As he tried to assault her for refusing compromise, the victim ran out of her home to be rescued by the police who have registered a case. Hojai: Hojai MLA Shiladitya Dev blames it all on the erstwhile Congress government in Dispur for the scarcity of potable water in the district.Addressing a press conference in Hojai on Sunday Dev said the public health engineering department undertook a huge scheme in 2007-08.
