Sangeeta Barooah Pisharoty, a veteran journalist, will receive the Parag Kumar Das Journalism Award 2023. The award includes a cash prize of Rs 25,000, a citation, and a memento. The award ceremony will take place on May 17.

Sangeeta Barooah Pisharoty currently serves as the National Affairs Editor for the digital news publication 'The Wire.'

The Parag Kumar Das Journalism Award was established to honor the courageous journalist Parag Kumar Das, who lost his life while fighting for the truth. The award recognizes and encourages journalists who tirelessly uncover the truth and bring it to the public.

GUWAHATI:Guwahati is holding a huge RSS rally on Sunday forcing the authority to step up security in the face of an escalating criticism from a section of political parties and organizations. GUWAHATI: A 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck massive panic in Assam early in the morning on Saturday. Originated at Gauripur in Dhubri, the tremor jolted the entire state at 6.45 in the morning forcing many people in the high rise buildings in the urban areas to come down to the open space. GUWAHATI: Security forces seized gold weighing nearly 1 KG from a person at the Lokoriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport on Friday. Acting on a tip off, the CISF jawans raided Ankush Chetti who was preparing to depart the city to New Delhi by the IndiGo flight in the morning. When thoroughly checked, the gold biscuits worth ₹30 lakh was discovered in his rectum. He was arrested and the biscuits were recovered at the Guwahati Medical College Hospital. NAMRUP: Hundreds of bikers took out a huge rally in Namrup on Friday mounting more pressure on the government to expedite the proposed fourth unit of the Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation.
