Parag Kumar Das Journalism Award 2023 to Sangeeta Barooah Pisharoty

Sangeeta Barooah Pisharoty, a veteran journalist, will receive the Parag Kumar Das Journalism Award 2023. The award includes a cash prize of Rs 25,000, a citation, and a memento. The award ceremony will take place on May 17.

Sangeeta Barooah Pisharoty currently serves as the National Affairs Editor for the digital news publication 'The Wire.'

The Parag Kumar Das Journalism Award was established to honor the courageous journalist Parag Kumar Das, who lost his life while fighting for the truth. The award recognizes and encourages journalists who tirelessly uncover the truth and bring it to the public.

National Ayush Mission and Indian Yoga Culture & Yoga Therapy Centre are going to organize Assam Yoga Mahotsav 2015 in collaboration with Sports Authority of Assam at Deshabhakta Tarun Ram Phukan Indoor Stadium in R. G Barua Sports Complex, Guwahati on December 12-14 December. As a part of this Yoga Mahotsav, Swami Shivananda Saraswati Yoga Prerana Award for the year 2015 will be presented.  Yoga Orientation Programme, Inter-School Group Yoga Competition, Quiz, Extempore Speech and other competitions will be held  during the event. 
There was a bomb blast in the Fancy Bazar area, Guwahati on Saturday at around 3 in the afternoon. According to eye witnesses, the blast source was a 'larger diwali cracker' kept in a dust bin. Assam BJP's poll panel is meeting in New Delhi on Wednesday where poll candidates are set to be screened. Central BJP leaders told Assam Times that Chief Ministerial candidate Sarbananda Sonowal is presiding over the meeting in presence of Ram Madhab, Biyoja Chakrabarty, Ramen Deka, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma. The shortlisted candidates would be examined later. The meeting is also expected to consider the fate of the 7 newly inducted MLAs who have joined the party. ULFA chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa said that the Centre is very positive on the problems confronting Assam and its people.
