Bodo Bijwng San celebrates in BTR

The Bodo community, including the Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) and All Bodo Students Union (ABSU), celebrated the 61st Bodo Bijwng San (Bodo Medium Day) across the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) on Saturday.

The day marks the introduction of the Bodo language as a medium of instruction in Lower Primary schools in Assam. This year's celebrations highlighted the 61-year journey of Bodo medium education and its success in promoting mother-tongue based learning.

Central Celebration in Kokrajhar

A joint program was held at the Simbargaon HS School playground in Kokrajhar, organized by the district units of Bodo Sahitya Sabha and ABSU. Bijel Kumar Basumatary, president of the Kokrajhar district unit of Bodo Sahitya Sabha, presided over the event, which included flag hoisting and floral tributes to martyrs.

Bodo Sahitya Sabha secretary Sahen Brahma and ex-vice president Gopinath Borgoyary were guests of honor.

Felicitation for Students

Coinciding with the Bodo Bijwng San celebrations, UN Academy, Kokrajhar, organized a felicitation program for students who passed their HSLC and HS final examinations. The program's chief guest was Pramod Boro, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Bodoland Territorial Region.

CEM Boro congratulated the students and emphasized their role as the future of BTR. He highlighted the BTR government's dedication to improving the educational landscape in the region.

Celebrating Bodo Medium Education

Speaking on the significance of Bodo Bijwng San, CEM Boro commended the 61-year success of Bodo medium education. He underlined the importance of mother-tongue education and the opportunities it provides for Bodo students.

Assam cabinet minister and Sahitya Akademi awardee, Urkhao Gwra Brahma, and ABSU president Dipen Boro also extended their greetings on the occasion.

Similar celebrations were held across BTR, with programs organized by the Bodo Sahitya Sabha's primary committees in Chirang, Baksa, Tamulpur, and Udalguri districts.

Police launched crackdown on NLFB

Police administration have vowed for a strict operation against NLFB in Kokrajhar district as NIA has so far circulated most wanted and head count Rs. 10 lakh against the leader of NLFB M Batha. The superintendent of police, Prateek Thube told that the police has started its search operation against the NLFB militant organization along the India-Bhutan border areas of Kokrajhar district. Various parties and citizens of Kokrajhar, including CPI-M, have criticized the Budget presented in the ongoing Budget Assembly session on Friday by Finance minister Ajanta Neog for 2021-22 financial year. Rupsi Airport in Assam gets regular flight under RCS-UDAN

BPF wins 4 out of 12

  KOKRAJHAR: The Bodoland People's Front's (BPF) elected member's numbers have been reduced to 4 from 12 in the assembly elections across the four districts of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
