Kokrajhar, July 3: The Ramfalbil Anchalik Committee of the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) kicked off the 4th edition of the U-13 (Under-13) and 14th Inter-Unit Football Tournament today at the Kumguri playground near Serfanguri in Kokrajhar district.
The excitement of the tournament began with an opening match between Belguri and Athiabari units, thrilling the gathered sports enthusiasts.
Gracing the occasion as the chief guest, Kripesh Daimary, President of the Kokrajhar District Committee of ABSU, inaugurated the tournament.
This annual sporting event aligns with the vision of Bodofa (founder of ABSU) to promote sustainable development in sports and social welfare initiatives for the region's citizens.
Daimary highlighted the tournament's role in scouting and nurturing young sporting talent across the Bodoland region. He acknowledged the overwhelming positive response from sports lovers, prompting the committee to organize the event annually.
He further emphasized the students' commitment to social welfare services, aiming to uplift the Bodo community and other indigenous tribal groups in the state.
Leaders from social organizations like ABSU, Tribal Sangha, and Bodo Sahitya Sabha were also present at the event.
