Tezpur : On 25th July,2007 All Assam Hills Tribal Council had organised a meeting in Sonitpur District in village Missamari. Benudhar Tumung, President and Nripen Ingti General Secretary of All Assam Hills Tribal Council was present in the meeting. In the meeting the Sonitpur District Committee has form to work for the Hills People living in plains. The new unit was formed with Chikari Terang as President and Sarching Teron as General Secretary. All Assam Hills Tribal Council is Non Government, non religious, non political organisation. The Head Office is at Guwahati. The Organisation is working for the upliftment of Hills people living in Plains.

Hi every one! I am very much intrested helping others,specially to those who have the capability but dont have the proper guidance.I myself being a tribal,know the need of organisation like above given. I am an student studing in IISER-KOLKATA. I m very much keen to join a NGO like above given and want to work on upliftment of our people. So,please do mail me how can i get the membership.

First, tribals have to work hard. Tribals are not competent farmers. So, Bangladeshis are prospering in our agriculture sector. Look at the agricultural produce of Kharupetia near Mangaldoi town. Bangladeshis have taken over agriculture. They are not only good at growing crops and vegetables but also know to sell them. What is the use of forming so many tribal organisations when the ground reality is lack of work culture among tribals?

40 injured as bus set on fire at Bihali in Sonitpur

Over 40 persons have been injured when suspected Birsa Commando force militants set on fire a passenger bus at Bihali in Sonitpur district early in the morning on Saturday.According to initial reports, suspected BCF militants forcibly halted a passenger bus bearing No AS-075848 from Sivasagar on its way to Lakhimpur as it reached Monabari Newline and set on fire by pouring petrol. Killer avian flu still spreading in Assam

The killer Bird flu virus refuses to die down. Land grabbers at work in Patbaushi monastery

An uneasy situation is what prevails at the Patbaushi monastery premises following at attack threat by a few people who have been illegally occupying the plot allotted by the government in the name of the Vaishnavite monastery. State-level workshop on bamboo sector

A state level workshop on promotion of bamboo sector and livelihood support held at Swahid Bhawan, Nagaon, on December 26. The workshop was attended by more than 200 people of different districts of Assam. The workshop was graced by B.S.Bonai, IFS.

Uneasy situation at Golaghat township

Normal life comes to a grinding halt at Golaghat town in upper Assam minutes after a few students leaders forcibly took away a pair of keys of a shop for failing to donate for an upcoming function.According to information, a few AATASU at around 12 noon demanded cash as donation for holding a function in January. This was followed by a debate with heat. New GOC at army's 4 corp

Lt General Parnaik, VSM will take over as the general office commanding at the army's Four Corps. According to information, Parnaik will replace Lt Gen Baljit Singh Jaiswal who is being promoted as the commander of the army training centre, ARTC, Shimla. Three 3 schemes on the cards to uplift health sector

The Assam government is gong to announce three ambitious schemes to uplift the state’s health sector. Talking to reporters on Wednesday in Guwahati, health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi will be inaugurate a Rs 100 crore scheme on January 12 , the Rs 100 crore scheme will be dedicated to modernize altogether 300 hospitals in tea garden areas. Pakhi Miyan escape: GMCH Doc suspended

Two days after the escape of drug mafia Pakhi Miyan from the GMCH, the hospital authorities have placed the concerned doctor Purna Chandra Deori under suspension.
