Tezpur : On 25th July,2007 All Assam Hills Tribal Council had organised a meeting in Sonitpur District in village Missamari. Benudhar Tumung, President and Nripen Ingti General Secretary of All Assam Hills Tribal Council was present in the meeting. In the meeting the Sonitpur District Committee has form to work for the Hills People living in plains. The new unit was formed with Chikari Terang as President and Sarching Teron as General Secretary.All Assam Hills Tribal Council is Non Government, non religious, non political organisation. The Head Office is at Guwahati. The Organisation is working for the upliftment of Hills people living in Plains.

First, tribals have to work hard.
Tribals are not competent farmers. So, Bangladeshis are prospering in our agriculture sector.
Look at the agricultural produce of Kharupetia near Mangaldoi town. Bangladeshis have taken over agriculture. They are not only good at growing crops and vegetables but also know to sell them.
What is the use of forming so many tribal organisations when the ground reality is lack of work culture among tribals?

For the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad, August 4 will be a Black day. The student body is going to do it in protest against the government’s failure to rein in the stepped up activities of the fundamentalist forces in the state. According to the AJYCP general secretary Manoj Baruah, the indigenous people in Assam are living on the edge in the face of the continuing infiltration of Bangladeshi people from across the Indo-Bangla border and also the stepped up activities of the fundamentalist forces. Baruah said the government both in Delhi and Dispur have been failing to rein in these over the years.
Two people were killed in two separate incidents in Assam on Tuesday night. A Panchayat body president in Amguri in upper Assam’s Sivasagar district, Hemanta Baruah was shot dead by a few miscreants near his resident Haluwating at around 10 at night on Tuesday. The overall flood situation in Assam continues to remain critical on Wednesday as some more areas are reeling under the flood waters of the river Brahmaputra and its tributaries rendering as many as four lakh people homeless in seven districts. The over all flood situation in Assam remains critical with the flood waters of the mighty Brahmaputra and its tributaries are spilling into some more areas.
