The Bodoland Taekwondo Championship 2025 began on Sunday in Kokrajhar under the aegis of the All Bodoland Taekwondo Association. The championship is being hosted at the Chiknajhar Taekwondo Gymnasium in Kokrajhar town.
The event features the 31st Kyorugi and 12th Poomsae competitions, drawing athletes from various districts of Assam along with participants from Sikkim, Meghalaya, the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and Assam Police.
Addressing the gathering, All Bodoland Taekwondo Association General Secretary Lachit Basumatary said the championship aims to promote taekwondo across the region and identify emerging talent. He added that athletes delivering outstanding performances in the competition would be selected for participation in national-level championships.
Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Chief Hagrama Mohilary is scheduled to attend the closing ceremony on Monday, December 29, where he will felicitate the medal-winning players.
The championship has generated considerable enthusiasm among sports lovers and is expected to serve as an important platform for nurturing young taekwondo players from the Bodoland region and neighbouring states.
