Susovan Sonu Roy has steadily carved a place for himself across multiple creative fields—Bengali television, modelling, and films—building his career through persistence, training, and adaptability.
Born in Howrah, Susovan spent his formative years between Kolkata and Guwahati. His early life was marked by hardship after losing his father in an accident at a young age. Raised by his mother under challenging circumstances, he went on to complete his graduation in Commerce from Dum Dum Motijheel Rabindra Mahavidyalaya in 2016.
His entry into the performing arts began with dance. Driven by interest, he joined a dance institute where he trained in Western dance for nearly two years. During this period, he developed a particular inclination toward pop dance and actively participated in stage shows and cultural performances, laying the foundation for his artistic journey.
Seeking broader opportunities, Susovan auditioned for projects in Mumbai before returning to Kolkata, where he refined his acting skills. Between 2016 and 2018, he trained and worked at the production house of noted director-producer Pijush Saha, gaining valuable industry exposure.
His breakthrough in television came in 2019 with the Bengali serial Anandamoyi Maa on Akash Aath, directed by Debidas Bhattacharya. He portrayed a Vaishnav devotee, marking his entry into mainstream television. He went on to appear in popular Star Jalsha serials such as Mohor and Korapakhi, where he played a negative role opposite Parno Mittra. His television portfolio also includes Jamuna Dhaki on Zee Bangla, and Star Jalsha’s Titli and Khelaghor.
During the COVID-19 lockdown, when television production slowed, Susovan diversified into modelling. In 2023, he featured in advertising campaigns for several major brands, including Holiday Inn Hotel, Dabur, Amazon, and Big Bazaar. His modelling career gained further recognition when he secured the First Runner-up position at the “Ethnic Elegance 2025” beauty pageant in Kolkata, excelling in portfolio presentation, ramp walk, and interview rounds.
Parallel to television and modelling, Susovan has also stepped into films. He appeared in the Bengali movie Take Care Bhalobasa, where he played the character ‘Joy’, a key role in a narrative centered on friendship and evolving relationships.
Beyond his professional journey, Susovan maintains a strong personal connection with Assam. With his maternal aunt based in Guwahati, he frequently visits the city and shares close ties with both Bengali and Assamese communities, reflecting a culturally blended upbringing.
Active on social media, he engages with his audience through Instagram (@susovan_roy_sonu) and Facebook, continuing to expand his reach as a rising face in the entertainment industry.
