ONGC distributes benefits

ONGC Assam Asset today give Partnership Benefits under Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives of Assam Asset to 20 Educational Institutions and Organisations of different oil field areas of the Sivasagar District. Mr Ashok Varma, ED-Asset Manager, Assam Asset gave away the benefits in presence of other senior officials and Mr Abdul Jalil, Inspector of Schools, Sivasagar in ONGC Officers' Club, ONGC Colony, Sivasagar.

Leopard cub and python rescued

Forest officials rescued two leopard cubs (10 days old) was rescued from Lakshmi Tea Estate and one Python of 12 feet from Nagani well, Atkhal near Gelaki in Sivasagar district recently. They are sent to the rescue centre in Bokakhat.

Forest guard injured in encounter

An encounter between poacher and forest guard took place today afternoon in Abhoyapur Reserve Forest under Charaideo police station in Sivasagar district. According to the information one forest guard named Hironya Baruah injured in the encounter and he was rushed to the Sivasagar Civil hospital for treatment.

Horticulture Development Awareness Camps organised by ONGC

ONGC Assam Asset and ONGC Mahila Samiti, with the technical support of Assam Agricultural University,Jorhat launched the Horticulture Development Programme on International Women's Day. Two Horticulture Awareness Camps were organised at Sivasagar Girls College and Geleki College on 8th March 2009. The Professors from Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat provided training about vegetable and fruits processing, flower crops and fruit crops. MAJONI scheme launced in Sivasagar

MAJONI a scheme for the girl child under the Assam Bikash Yojuana of Government of Assam was launched yesterday(27-02-09)in Sivasagar by Pranab Gogoi, Hon'ble Minister, Sericulture, Handloom & Textiles and Law, Assam. Under this scheme all new born girl child will get a fixed deposit of Rs. 5000/- on her birth and the same can be en-cashed by the girl child on attainment of 18 years of her age.

Forest Minister's effiigy burnt

The Sonari unit of Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) today burnt the effigy of State Forest Minister Rockybul Hussain in protest of brutally killing of a pragnent elephant and its tasks taken away by some unknown in Abhoyapur Reserve Forest under Charaideo police station in Sivasagar district.

The 3rd Desang Utsav begins from today with many colourful programmes. The Utsav is inagurated by Mr. Pranab Gogoi, Minister of Handloom, Textiles and Sericulture and Law, Govt. of Assam in Desangmukh, Sivasagar by lighting a lamp. The inaguration ceremony is attended by many district administration officials and a lrge numbers of local peoples. Kathak Yatra begins from tomorrow in Sivasagar

Kathak Kendra a National Institute of Kathak Dance, New Delhi organise Kathak Yatra from 6-8 February 2009 at Sivasagar Natya Mandir, Sivasagar. The Kathak Yatra is supported by ONGC Ltd.,Assam Asset, Nazira and Dipanjali Sangeet Vidyslaya, Sivasagar. Many renowned kathak dancers from Assam and New Delhi perform in this Kathak Yatra.

Thai Princess on a day long visit to Sivasagar tomorrow

Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn the Princess of Thailand on a high-profile day long visits to Sivasagar district, tomorrow with a 18 numbers of officials from the Office of His Majesty.
