Assam's Bhoot Jolokia has become famous as the worlds hottest chilly a few months back. Guinness Book of World Records has awarded this title to our very own red chili and the media all across has been covering this event widely. But almost all reports in English named this chilly as “ghost chilly” translating the name directly from Assamese. In Assamese “bhut” stands for “ghost”.Bhot actually means people of Bhutan. Awarded chili is Bhot Jolokiya not Bhut Jolokiya In Assam everyone knows it. Some journalist made this mistake sometime back and it is continuing

Thanks to Mr. Neog for the report. Regarding the name of 'Bhoot jalakia' re(?)search should be done how this variety of chilly got this name. Hope to get feedback. Would like to know details about this variety.

Actually the so called bhoot chilly is entirely found in the north east region of India. So better not to comment on the name or whatsever. There is no doubt that it has got great quality .so dear, if u really want to know then contect me..

BTW..... its total bullsh** that its BHOT JOLOKIA.. its actually "bhoot jolokia" and it means ghost chilly in assamese because of the hot spicy taste it produces. and crossword jolokia is pronounced as jo-lo-ki-aa

A major incident of blast was averted when Assam Rifles recovered two powerful improvised explosive devises from a bus at Dhekiajuli in Sonitpur district on Wednesday.According to information, acting on specific inputs, the 44 Assam Rifles personnel recovered the bomb from a private bus coming here from Orang around 11 am. The two explosives were safely defused by the jawans, the sources said. This is the second one case of bomb recovery this week. Earlier on Monday, a major disaster was averted when a powerful bomb kept by suspected ULFA was recovered from a Guwahati-Nalbari private long-distance bus in Nalbari district's Borkura.

Six NDFB rebels were killed during a heavy gun battle with army in Karbi Anglong district on Tuesday.According to information, the encounter took place at Donghap area in the hills district on Tuesday morning. Acting on a specific information, Red Horns Division army jawans launched a massive operation in the area and thus the encounter took place for several hours. After weeks of will-they-won't-they, police have arrested Bokakhat MLA Jiten Gogoi who have physically assaulted a forest official two months back at the Kaziranga National Park.Gogoi was arrested a day after the Gauhati High Court has rejected his anticipatory bail plea he moved after police initiated action to arrest him. Notably, Gogoi with Thowra MLA and former ULFA rebel Kushal Duwari assulted a forest official at the KNP when they were denied permission to fish inside the park. The court further has rejected Kushal Duwari's anticipatory bail plea and since then he has been missing.
