An eerie silence is prevailing in Karbi Anglong distirct a day after the Kamrup Express had a narrow escape when KLNLF militants targetted the passenger train with bombs.
This has forced the poll bound district to beef up security forces to foil any attack of the Karbi rebel outfit.
According to information, the first explosion took place around at 10.30 p.m. at Nilalong, at a stones throw distance from Diphu town when the Kamrup Express had a narrow escape. Minutes after it, the second one explosion rocked a few kilometres ahead of Nilalong.
Both the explosions rocked near the rail track. This has forced the railway authorities to cancel the trains till Monday. The Kamrup Express was on way from Guwahati to Dibrugarh in eastern Assam with as many as 600 passengers. Eyewitness say the militants also started indiscriminate firing as soon as the second bomb exploded as the train slowed down. But there was no casualty.
