Tension along Assam-Nagaland border

The Assam-Nagaland border areas in Sivasagar district slips into a simmering situation after Nazira police foiled the bid of group of officials from Longleng district administration to set up a polling booth in Geleky. The officials under the Tamlu legislative assembly constituency arrived in Borhola on Wednesday evening headed by Tamlu SDO who asked his Nazira counterpart to allow them to set up polling booth in the place. Nazira sub divisional police officer and the SDO did not allow them to do so and asked the Nagaland officials to leave the place. But later they lodged at the Singibeel ME Schools but the local residents rushed to the school and thus allowed to tension to escalate.
