On the occasions of the 66th birth anniversary of Late Prime Minister of India Shri Rajiv Gandhiji , All India National Unity Conference on National Integration and Communal Harmony awarded the RAJIV GANDHI RASHTRIYA EKTA SAMMAN 2009 for outstanding contribution and performance in the field of education, entrepreneurship, social activities, science and technology and such other fields towards development of our society. The Function was held at India International Center, New Delhi on August 19.
Smti Geetika Barooah Changkakoti has been distinguished to recieve this award for 2009 amongst other awardees selected from various corners of India as an eminent entrepreneur of the North Eastern Region of Assam in India. Prior to her this award has been received by prominent personalities like Mother Teresa, Pt. Vishwamohan Bhatt, Rusi Mody, Dr. S Padmavati, Navjot Singh Sidhu, A.K.Shukla (CMD Lic), Birju Maharaj, Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Dr. Balamurli Krishna, Sushmita Sen, and other distinguished personalities of India.
The Awards were given away by his Hon'ble Minister of State, Govt of India Ajay Makanji and Former Governor of Assam Bhisma Narayan Singhji| Other distinguished guests for the occasion were Dr. G.V.G.Krishnamurty (Former Election Commissioner), Dr. Justice A.R. Lakshmanan (Chairman , Law Commission of India), A.I.C.C. Gen Secy, Choudhury Prem Singh, Gurinder Singh ( Editor Indian Observer), Sushil Kr Shinde, Sriprakash Jaiswal, Oscar Fernandes, Joginder Singh. The function was attended by a host of guests and dignitaries to mark the occasion.

We should know more about the award as this kind of aars are given in many times. We need to know more about the award. This can not be any proud momnet for the state. We need to know more about the selection processes and who are the jury and all.
Three KLNLF cadres were killed in three separate encounters with army in Bokolialghat in Karbi Anglong district on Wednesday. According to information, two camps of the Karbi rebels outfits have been busted in the district during the on going operation. There is report of simmering tension in Jalpaiguri district early on Tuesday morning as supporters of Gorkha Janamukti Morcha and anti-Gorkhaland group clashed with the Akhil Bhartiya Adivasi Vikas Parishad (ABAVP) activists. The United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) on Monday has made it clear that none of its top leaders have been using the soil of Bangladesh as its base. In a statement ULFA president Arabinda Rajkhowa said it’s a conspiracy to malign their image. Rajkhowa said there is no question of using the soil of Bangladesh while they are continuing the struggle for an end to the colonial rule of new Delhi. He alleged that the government has ignored any steps for a dignified political settlement of the conflict.He further alleged that the government has been blaming it all on the ULFA after successfully making a series of explosions in public place.

These rebels were planning a major strike with arms and ammunition.Army's Red Horn division has recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from Belaghat in Karbi Anglong district on Monday morning. According to information, these include 500 gram of explosive materials, 255 detonators, 337 ammunition of AK series rifles, 163 ammunition of 9mm and 95 ammunition of 7.62 rifles.
