While Sony Pix is celebrating the pleasant autumn warmth with August Rush, Bangalore’s premiere music institute “Eastern Fare Music Foundation” ornamented the season with an enchanting musical offering of its own on 14th August, 09. The concert “Euphony, An autumn serenade” in collaboration with Furtados Music (India) Pvt. Ltd. marked the completion of 6 successful months of the Koramangala branch of Eastern Fare Music Institute and truly lived up to its name, with students and teachers exhibiting amazing musical ability.


It was indeed inspiring to see the performers’ ages range from tots to teenaged heavy metal rockers to 50+ retro music lovers. While the youngest artist for the evening was 4 year old giving a piano recital the eldest entertainer played some popular retro numbers from Eagles, Eric Clapton and CCR.


The event was also graced by the presence of celebrated Carnatic Vocalist and Television personality Suchetan Rangaswamy who simply mesmerized the audience by rendering vocals to a song composed by Assamese Musician, Jim Ankan (owner/director of the institute) from their upcoming fusion album Veenar.


Eastern Fare Music Foundation is the first ever full-fledged music institute to be established by an Assamese in the hustling city of Bangalore. An initiative of noted Assamese music composer, Jim Ankan Deka, the institute accommodates nearly 500 hundred music aspirants from countries like Germany and China besides India. Under the able mentoring of some proficient instructors the students can learn various instruments including Guitar, Piano, Tabla, Drums, Violin, and Flute etc. The institute also encompasses musical genres like Indian and Western Classical and is now delving into Carnatic Music as well.

Cool ASSAM has alwayz produced many talents, this is an example & i beleive NORTH-EAST produces the best Rock Music in entire INDIA, so East or West North-East is the BEST.

Bhupenda’s funeral postponed to Wednesday

A huge turn out of Bhupen-da’s fans finally forced the Assam government to postpone the funeral of the legend to Wednedsay. Talking to reporters, Assam Cultural Minister Pranati Phukan said, people from the nook and corner of the state have descended on Judges Field to him their last respect. Lifeless Bhupen-da back to home; cremation at GU campus

Assam on Monday received Dr Bhupen Hazarika’s body with all tears two days after the noted singer and lyricist passed away in Mumbai. The entire state gears up to cremate him at the Gauhati University premises on Tuesday. Curfew in Kokrajhar

An indefinite curfew was imposed in Kokrajhar on Sunday following a series of violent incidents on Saturday. The town witnessed violence after a sweet-shop owner Lalchand Badani was killed by unidentified gunmen in the vicinity of Kokrajhar police station on Saturday. Following the death, a mob damaged several government vehicles in front of the deputy commission's office and gheraoed it. Hazarika to be cremated on Tuesday

Assam is well prepared to bid tearful farewell to veteran singer Bhupen Hazarika who passed away in Mumbai on Saturday. The mortal remains would reach Guwahati on Monday morning and would be kept at the Judges’ Field in the city to help the fans pay their last respect to the legend. His body will reach the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport via a Jet Airways flight around 11.30am on Monday. The coffin will be taken to his ancestral home at Nizarapara. The body would be taken for cremation in the afternoon on Tuesday at the Brahmaputra riverbank with full state honour. The decision was taken at the cabinet meeting held on Sunday evening in Dispur.

Fans condole Assam Ratna’s death

The entire Assam on Saturday plunged in to a pall of gloom when the news of Dr Bhupen Hazarika's death was spreading like wild fire. Dr Bhupen Hazarika no more

Pride of Assam Dr Bhupen Hazarika is no more. He was 85. The end came at 4:30pm on Saturday at the Mumbai-based Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital where he was undergoing treatment. Hazarika was born in 1926, at Sadiya in Assam. He did his Intermediate in Guwahati in 1942, and went on to Banaras Hindu University to complete his B. A and completed his M A in Political Science in 1946. Soon after, he did PhD from Columbia varsity in New Yorkin Mass Communication.
