At least 12 persons were killed and 30 others injured in an indiscriminate firing by the banned National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) militants at Bhiumajuli in Bihali Reserve Forest area in Sonitpur district on Sunday. According to information, heavily armed militants belonging to the RaNJAN DAIMARY faction of the Voro rebel outfit came to the spot on Sunday evening and started to fire targeting some shops. The militants earlier served extortion notices only to be denied by the villagers. Immediately after the firing, the militants left the spot leaving 11 persons dead on the spot.The injured have been rushed to nearby civil hospitals at Biswanath Chariali and Tezpur. Police and Para-military forced have started a massive combing operation in and around the spot of incident to apprehend the culprits.But There is no report ofany arrest.

2. Aggressive Tribalism, Tribal Agenda too High for a cosmopolitan mindset
3. Like many tribes in Africa, many hill tribes have taken up Christianity and Western lifestyles, but still xenophobic in mental set-up
4. Christianity has not been able to bring in 'Universal Peace and Brotherhood', it has just expanded the base of Christians which is the objective of the Pope in Vatican city.
5. Highly Racist in social order...fellow countrymen need Inner Line Permits (ILP) in hill states even when they have gone up much higher in all ranks in the national level. Students from NE hill states are moving out to study in Delhi. Students from Delhi will never come to such xenophobic towns where racism rules the roost.
6. Highly consumerist societies, no productivity, not self-reliant in food, clothes or anything else. Still talks about 'seperate lands'.

I would like to respond to Dorika's comment. His/her observations are partially true. But I would suggest him/her to read more on the issue and then give judgements.
A hardcore ULFA cadre died during an encounter with police and army in lower Assam's Barpeta distirct on Friday midnight.According to information, the encounter took place Khagrabari where ULFA lieutenant Kushal Das died on the spot. Details awaited.
Normal life in Sivasagar district has been thrown out of gear as the entire upper Assam distirct slips into a total bandh from Saturday morning.The 12 hour total bandh is being called by All Tai Ahom Students Union in protest against the death of its Sivasagar district vice president in police custody.Barring the vehicles of security forces there are no vehicles are seen plying on the streets. All establishments are remaining closed from early in the morning. The petrol crisis in the north eastern city of Guwahati is expected to die down by Friday evening.According to Kamrup district administration sources steps are on to rush petrol and disel to the city petrol depots that have gone dry from Friday morning as an impact of the three day indefinite strike by the oil PSU executives.

There is report that ULFA cadre Pranjal Deka alias Biju Sarania, the brain behind the serial blasts in Guwahati on the new year’s day was killed. According to information, he was killed during an encounter with police and army at Halikuchi area in Rongiya on Thursday evening.Acting on specific inputs, Nalbari police led by SP Jitmol Doley with army launched a joint operation in the area where the encounter took place in the evening. The Centre has extended its ceasefore with the National Democratic Front of Bodoland for another period of six years. The Centre is apparently finding it difficult to take a decision on extension of ceasefire with NDFB with the banned outfit is suspected to be behind the October serial blasts in Assam.The Suspension of Operations lapsed on December, 31, 2008 and even after a few rounds of talks among Home Ministry, the Assam government and NDFB, no decision has been taken so far on extending the agreement.The Centre hopes that the Union home ministry will be able to come to an arrangement and a decision will be taken very quickly. He said any such truce should followed strictly and this should be ensured.
