Technology Week: An Innovative Programme for Farmers

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Goalpara, a Farm Science Centre run by the National Research Centre on Pig, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Rani, Guwahati, in Goalpara district of Assam is planning to conduct a Technology Week aiming at mass awareness of farmers on the latest advances in Agricultural Technology in the country and diffusion of those technology to the end users. The programme is scheduled to be held with effect from 16th November to 22nd November 2009 at Thekasu, Dudhnoi. The programme will include a Scientific Seminar on ‘Agricultural Technology Intervention for Rural Reconstruction’, launch Workshop of the project ‘Farm Women Empowerment through rearing of Charra-Chemballi Duck for Livelihood Sustainability’, an Exhibition, Ex-Trainees Meet, Farmers-Scientist interaction, Farmers’ Training and a Cultural Nite. Official from Govt. of Assam, Scientists from Assam Agricultural University (AAU), and Scientists from ICAR and Extension Personnel from the line Departments shall address about 1000 farmers during the Technology Week. This programme is the first of its kind ever seen in the farm science centre (KVK) under the NRC on Pig.

Definately Technology week is a innovative concept & definately it is very informative to the farmer. KVK Solapur (MS)is now conducting the same activity since 27 Jan 2010.Tommarow is the last day & hon Collector is going to attend the validatery session.The theme for the 31 Jan Programme is women empowerment. Till the date 4000 farmers have visited to our crop demonstrations which includes 15 var of R Jowar,9 var of Wheat,9 var of B gram,06 var of Safflower & 27 var of 12 fodder crops. Also organised the Agril exhibitions which includes live birds e.g. Emu,Poultery,Lavi etc.

A training cum demonstration on “Farm Mechanization for Improved Agriculture” was organized in Lela village, Dudhnoi on 15th Oct’ 2007 by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dudhnoi, Goalpara.
