Killing spree in Assam

A suspected ULFA activist was killed at an encounter with police on Friday in Guwahati. The incident took place early in the morning which was followed by another shoot out at Chandmari in the city. Two NDFB rebels were killed at an encounter with security forces in Chirang district of lower Assam on Friday. The incident took place at Mauja basti where 2 pistol,3 grenades were recovered along with some incriminating documents. In yet another incident, one person was killed while suspected Naga insurgents attacked a village defence party in North Cachar hills on Friday. The incident took place in the wee hours at Devi Nagar as a group Naga insurgents were on an extortion drive. , A school teachers was Som Bahadur Chetry, the severely injured person later succumbed to his injuries at the Haflong Civil Hospital. On the other hand, a youth was injured at a shot by suspected ULFA rebels at Phulguri in Nagaon district on Thursday evening.

Narrow escape for security forces

Security forces had a narrow escape when on Sunday morning when an attempt by s joint ULFA-I and NSCN-K team missed the target in Tinsukia district. Kaziranga case: Akhil Gogoi arrested

 After days of will-they-won’t-they, police have arrested Akhil Gogoi on Sunday in connection with the recent protest in Kaziranga. A group of policemen caught the KMSS leaders from his residence in Chandmari in Guwahati in the morning charging him with aiding and abetting the people who staged protest against the eviction drive in the world heritage site where two people were killed in police firing. Gogoi, who took the leader allegedly fled from the scene and since then policemen in Guwahati and Bokakhar have been looking for him to be arrested.

Shoot out mires in mystery

The shoot out in Karbi Anglong district seems to have mired in controversy as the authority has called it an incident of accidental firing where a policeman was killed.
