A stunning revelation by an Bangladesh minister touches off a seismic wave of reaction across India two days before the arrival of Bangladesh premier Sheikh Hasina.
According to a ballestic revelation, former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf had a secret meet with jailed ULFA leader Anup Chetia during a visit to Dhaka. Quoting senior Bangladesh minister Ashraful Islam, a section of media reports that Musharraf came to Dhaka in July 2002 where he met Chetia at the Sheraton Hotel.
Chetia was arrested from Dhaka during the 1996-2001 Awami League regime and still is in custody despite the expiry of his jail term in connection with a case of cross-border intrusion.
The revelations came up at a time when investigation is in progress on alleged links between the insurgent group and Pakistan's Inter Service Intelligence. Moreover, arms haul in 2004 is being probed where Bangladesh Police seized 10 truckloads of weapons. Later, the consignment was suspected to be destined for ULFA camp.
