A coaching for IAS (main) will be held from June 15 at Pre- Examination Centre of Gauhati University. The deputy director of the centre Dr.Sanjay Kumar Dutta said in a release that the coaching programme is organized especially for students of the Assamese optional besides the General Studies.Aspiring students may contact with the centre.

Hi, I am Mritul, presently residing in Bangalore. I am preparing for UPSC(IAS) and will attempt in 2011. I have taken Assamese as my second optional paper. However, i have a very limited access to assamese study materials being staying in Bangalore. I would be glad if you and your team and guide me to get some valuable study materials and also help me to direct to some group or community where i an get information on it. Next Assam election will be held April-May

The ensuing Assam assembly election will be held in April-May of next year. Amidst speculation it was declared by the chief election commissioner of India Naveen Chawla at Guwahati on June 4. After a meeting with the state electoral officers he said it in a press conference.He also said that the preliminary preparations for the up coming pool are going on and the dates will be fixed later.

New talks between NSCN (IM) and Centre resume tomorrow

In order to bring a stabililty to the north eastern part of the country a new round of talks will be held on June 1 between NSCN (IM) and the central peace-negotiator at Nagaland. According to report R.S. Pandey, the main peace-negotiator of the central government will meet NSCN (IM) leaders in Kohima besides officials from the central home ministry and intelligence agencies. Thuingalang Muivah, general secretary of NSCN (IM) will take part in the talks. It is expected that these talks would cover wide range of issues. 1200 Reang Regugees came back to Home

A group of 1200 Reang refugees has returned back to home, Mizoram from Kanchanpur of north Tripura after thirteen years of displacement. Flowing the recent direction of the central home ministry Tripura government took strong initiative to send the refugees to their home state.In 1997 around 32000 Reang tribals had to leave Mizoram for a clash with local Mizo people and took shelter in Tripura. Chidambram pushes onus of peace-talk to the state government

Union Home minister P Chidambaram today expressed his satisfaction over the law and order situation of Assam. He said in Guwahati that the improvement of complicated situation of the state is dramatic. After a meeting with Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi at Raj Bhawan he pushes onus of the forwarding peace-process with the rebel group to the state government. “The state government may take up appropriate step in this regard”, Chidambaram maintained. Two NDFB cadres killed at Sonitpur

Two hardcore anti-talk faction of NDFB cadres were killed at Misarai in Sonitpur district of Assam today May 24 in an encounter with the security forces. A pistol, two mobile phones and two bicycles were recovered from the slain ultras. They were not identified yet.Another cadre of this militant was killed yesterday in same district. From him security forces seized a 9mm pistol, 12 rounds of live cartridges and a grenade.Now the entire area is in tense. Four rhino poachers killed in Kaziranga

Four rhino poachers were killed on May 21 at the Kaziranga National Park in an encounter with forest guards. The encounter took place at Mihirmukh in the Kohara range during the time of a daily vigil by the guards. One .303 rifle was recovered from them. Mentionable that at least thirty five rhinos lost life in the hands of poachers in the last four years. Price rise: why this indifference?

Skyrocketing price rising of essential commodities, amidst other problems, paralyses not only the life of poor but also the life of well-to-do of the entire country. Sabin Bodo's arrest politically motivated

Sabin Bodo was arrested in false allegation as demanded by his family and kin. The ex-NDFB cadre, who was discharged from the banned out-fit in the last December due to second marriage and since then he has been in Guwahati for business purpose.
