WIPRO recruits 37 Gauhati University students

GUWAHATI: Gauhati University has every reason to feel proud of its products as Wipro BPO picked up altogether 37 youths from Assam in its joint campus interview on Tuesday.

According to information received, the IT major will provide training to all these candidates soon.

The recruitment started in the morning at the university premises and hundreds of applicants underwent a rigorous Wipro BPO selection process. At the end of it, Thirty seven bright youngsters were selected by the world-class brand who would able to take the first step towards a highly rewarding career.

Wipro BPO Academy will admits those who managed to get selected to a 10 day training.

In his address, V Anand Kumar, Vice President – People Supply Chain & Employee Branding of Wipro BPO, said they had an $8 billion industry in India and growing at a 40% a year.“We aim at spreading the message to make people aware of this huge career opportunities,” he said.

In his address, Gauhati University Vice Chancellor, Dr Amarjyoti Choudhury, stressed on a joint effort by both academia and the corporate world for benefit of the people.

Notably, in October this year, Wipro BPO is schedule to re-visit the varsity campus to offer placement opportunities to the final year students of graduate and post-graduate courses.
