The Udalguri district has been infested with the terrorists and extortion activities of NDFB(Anti Talk) who had been off late targeting the tea gardens of the district by slapping rupees one crore extortion demand duly signed by its leader Daikhang (self styled deputy commander of central battalion).To avert the evil design of the terrorists,315 Field Regiment (KARGIL) of the Red Horns Division had been painstakingly collecting intelligence about their network and modus operandi.On specific information on Aug 31, the unit struck with precision and apprehended Nokul Daimary of village Alikah, Paneri and Swrangsa Daimary of village Balishita,Udalguri.A pistol alongwith live ammunition and extortion pads of NDFB(anti talk) were recovered from the duo. They confessed to having served the Rs.1crore extortion notes to the three premium tea gardens of the area between July and August 2010.On enquiry they revealed operating on behalf of Dwidem Daimary alias Khungur of Ambagaon and a close associate of Daikhang.The money collected thus was being used to finance the terror module of anti nationals.The arrest of these dreaded extortionists has sent a wave of relief amongst the planters and has acted as a major dampener in the funding of the NDFB (anti talk). Kargil Gunners, who have been at the forefront of re establishing the rule of law and spread of peace in Udalguri district have once again proved their mettle by methodically developing intelligence and swiftly launching the operations.Other linkmen involved in the extortion network are currently on the run with the security forces in their hot pursuit.The two arrested cadres alongwith the recoveries were handed over to the police for subsequent investigation.
