GUWAHATI: In a bid to boost the spirit of energy conservation, the Bureau of Energy Efficiency is launching a national awareness campaign, involving children to enable them to inculcate the habit of energy conservation.
Disclosing this an official statement issued here says a painting competition for students at the school, state and national level is being included as one of the main activities of the campaign.
According to Powergrid Chief Manager, PC Bhagwati says the competition also aims to motivate the children towards energy conservation and offers them a chance to explore their creativity.
School principals shall ‘organize a painting competition for the students till September 29. Children can select any one topic from Power saved is power produced, energy saving at home and greenhouse gases and climate change.
The principals will select two best paintings and send it to the Nodal Officer of the respective states before October 10. PC Bhagawati, chief Manager, Powergrid has been designated as the nodal officer for Asom.
A committee of experts will select 50 best paintings and the selected students will be invited for a state-level painting competition on November 14. Prizes worth Rs 33,000 and other attractive gifts would be given to the students.
Finally, the first three winners of the state-level competition will be invited to Delhi to participate at the national-level competition to be held on December 12. Prizes worth Rs 6 lakhs and other gifts would be given to the participating students on the ‘National Energy Conservation Day’.
