AGP to elect new Opposition leader

GUWAHATI: A brainstorming meeting of the Asom gana Parishad legislators on Friday will elect a new leader of the Opposition.

Informing this to Assam Ttimes, senior party leaders here say the meeting is schedule at the Legislature Assembly at Dispur at 4 afternoon.

The meeting will be a stormy one as all the MLAs are not opposing Mr Goswami. According to what the sources here say Mr Goswami is averse to leave the chair which is why her is offering plum chairs in the party’s central committee to some MLAs.

Several senior leaders in the recent conclave opined that Mr Goswami should leave the chair of the opposition leader.

A section of legislators projected Chandra Mohan Patowary as the AGPLP leader but in view of the stepped up efforts by Mr Goswami, no body knows will Mr Goswami leave it to Mr Patowary.
