IFWJ urges Itanagar to act promptly
The Indian Federation of Working Journalists has condemned the attacks on journalists in Arunachal Pradesh and urged the Dorji Khandu government at Itanagar to act promptly. The federation also demanded the authority to ensure security for all the working journalists of the frontier State, stated in a release issued by Parmanand Pandey, the secretary general of IFWJ.
Mentionable that the media persons of the State have taken the path of agitation to pursue their demand to nab those culprits, who assaulted two lady journalists on December 12. The journalists of the State under the banner of Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists and Arunachal Press Club have demonstrated their furies against the failure of the authority to book the culprits even after seven days of the incident.
They went for ‘pen down’ programme on December 18 and hence no newspapers were hitting the stands for two days now. Earlier they demonstrated in front of the DC office and the police station at Naharlagun, near Itanagar. The morning dailies of Arunachal were also published with a black space on the front pages for three consecutive days.

Guwahati: Most of the city based scribes need thorough eye check-ups as they constantly use digital screen for hours in a day. In a day long eye screening camp, organized EYE DOCTORS, a city based eye institute and surgery centre, at Guwahati Press Club on 7 July 2018 it was observed that half of the participants were in need of thorough check-up and necessary treatments. Senior eye surgeon Dr Bindu Singla Goel conducted the camp, where around 60 journalists participated and went with preliminary screening of their eyes.
