Entrepreneurs Development Programme (EDP) of KVIC is organized by Gram Vikas Parishad (GVP) a state level Non- Govt. Organization of Nagaon District held at Rangaloo during 21st February to 5th March’2011. Selected 20 nos. entrepreneurs has got the training programme by the resource persons from the District Industries & Commerce Centre, Nagaon and others from Bank, financial institutions etc. Mr Kamal Hazarika , functional manager Ranjan Bora, Assistant Manager, Prabhat Phukan, Gautam Saikia, Mahibur Rahman, extension Officer of DI&CC, Nagaon and Mr Sibananda Kakoti ,Branch Manager, SBI Khutikatia, Sujata Jaiswal, Accountant and Jyoti Prasad Rajkhowa, Programme Coordinator were attended the programme as a resource person. They delivered lecture on various related topics on entrepreneurial Development such as characteristic of Entrepreneurs, procedure of bank Loan, various Schemes of KVIC, DI&CC, Maintenance of Books of accounts , Project Formulation, establishment of a enterprise etc. In the closing function of the programme presided by Abdul Mannaf, President of Parishad and other resource persons presence distributed certificate of honour to the trainees. Intellectual People of Nagaon District appreciated such type of employment-oriented programme of Parishad & KVIC.

Surging waters of the Brahmaputra threaten to submerge Nagaon town striking panic button among the citizens of the central Assam district on Sunday. The overflowing Brahmaputra waters breached a portion of a vital embankment in Jakhalabandha leaving huge volume of waters to the river Kolong which flows across the town. The district administration has sounded alert among the people in view if the situation.
Suspected rebels in Manipur exploded a mild bomb triggering huge panic and sensation two days before the Independence Day on Friday.  The explosion took place in Moreh town bordering Myanmar in the afternoon forcing the security men deployed there to fan in search of thr rebels. No rebel outfit has owned up the responsibility of the explosion and the security forces have also yet to ascertain the perpetrators. The explosion took place hours after the north eastern rebels jointly announced boycott call of the Independence Day celebration. The general strike will come into force from August 14 midnight which will end on August 15 evening.
The United Liberation Front of Asom (I) has announced boycott call of the Independence Day alleging colonial exploitation by the ruling clique in distant Delhi. In a statement issued here on Friday, the rebel outfit urged people to boycott the celebration and not to attend the flag hoisting and March past.  ULFA(I)  general strike will start from midnight on August 14 which will end after the celebration. NSCN-K, GNLA have already announced the boycott call.
Despite I-Day boycott call by the north eastern rebel outfits, Assam is going to observe the Independence Day with a three-day programme across the state. After GNLA, now its turn for National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Khaplang) to announce boycott call of the Independence Day slated for August 15. The Naga rebel outfit has urged the  people in the Naga inhibited areas to boycott the celebration of Indian National day. This was stated in a press statement issued by the outfit’s Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP).  “Every Naga citizen must rise to the occasion, confront the illegal colonization, reassert our birthright, uphold the legacy passed onto us by our pioneers and commit oneself to liberate our nation.” Said the outfit.

Yet another flood wave starts wreaking no less havoc in  Patgaon bazaar and it's adjoining areas rendering over 100 families over a night in Kokrajhar district on Thursday.. The river Kalashi is overflowing after the incessant rains that lashed the district during the last 24 hours and amany areas have come under the surging waters. Local residents here blamed lack of proper cannel or drainage system to pass the surfing river waters which takes place at regular intervals. The circle officer from Kokrajhar visited the marooned people and assessed the situation  on Wednesday afternoon.

Many organizations and individuals have stood by Lafiqul Islam Ahmed’s family members in Kokrajhar after unidentified gunmen killed the minority student leader. Nearly 45 people have signed an open letter to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal demanding sustainable support to the bereaved family members of the student leader who was killed on August 1. These signatories suggested the Chief Minister a job to the victim’s family member to prove his good will and a sense of social justice.  They appreciated Sonowal for constituting a special investigation team to probe the murder and referring the case to CBI for probe.
