Cultural Function of Assam by Assam Association of Mumbai

The Assam Association, Mumbai organizes a cultural
function of traditional Assamese music and dance to be
performed by reputed artists specially invited from Assam
on Sunday 23rd September 2007 at Assam Bhawan,
Vashi, from 4 pm to 7 pm. Those cultural items were
created by Sri Sri Sankardeva, the greatest cultural and
social reformer of NE India.
On this occasion, the association takes the pleasure to
invite you and your associates/journalists to make this

It was very nice to get the news about the celebration of greatest saint of Asom Srimanta Sankardev, who was the founder of basic culture and peace in Assam, which is still followed to maintain our strong history.

PM arriving Guwahati today

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is schedule to arrive in Guwahati on Friday even as death toll in Guwahati serial blast has gone up to six on Friday.According to information, one person, who was seriously injured on Thursday, succumbed to his injuries overnight. Centre to take up case with B'desh: Chidambaram

Hours after the string of blas that rattled the north eastern city of Guwahati, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi spoke to External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee seeking India's diplomatic pressure on Bangladesh so that North Eastern insurgent groups do not find shelter in that country. Union home minister P Chidambaram who was in the city hold a close door meeting with Gogoi where the Chief Minister admitted to lapses in security forces that could have prevented the blasts. Chidambaram told Gogoi that he would take up the matter with Sheikh Hasina who is expected to take over as Bangladesh Prime Minister soon.

Parties cutting across the party barrier have condemned the serial blast in Guwahati minutes after it rocked the city. The United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) has claimed the responsibility of the 3 blasts in Guwahati that killed 5 people and over 50 injured today. According to information the proscribed outfit has claimed that because their responsibility to greet the Union Home Minister P Chidambaram who arrived in the City minutes after the serial blast. Gogoi admits security lapse in the city

The Centre confirms the blast a handiwork of ULFA. It was disclosed by Union home minister P Chidambaram who arrived in the city on Thursday evening. Five dead and over 40 injured in the three blasts.

Serial blast in Guwahati: 5 dead, 50 injured

At least five persons died and more than 30 others have been injured when three blast rocked Guwahati before the arrival of Union home minister P Chidambaram on Thursday evening.The first one took place at around 3-30 in the afternoon at Birubari area here three persons have been injured. The bomb as kept inside a GMC dustbin.This was followed but the blast at Bhotnath where three persons and ten others have been injured. It as planted on a bi-cycle which exploded at around 5-30 in the evening.Minutes after it, another bomb rocked Bhanagarh area where three dead and 30 injured. The bomb exploded under the flyover.

Fire at Charaideo: 2 died

Two persons died and properties worth more than ten lakh were reduced to ashes when a devastating fire broke out at Salkathoni area in Charaideo sub division in upper Assam's Sivasagar district on Thursday. According to information, the deceased have been identified as Santosh Dhar and Ramesh Roy. Properties worth more than ten lakh have been damaged in the incident.
