Cultural Function of Assam by Assam Association of Mumbai

The Assam Association, Mumbai organizes a cultural
function of traditional Assamese music and dance to be
performed by reputed artists specially invited from Assam
on Sunday 23rd September 2007 at Assam Bhawan,
Vashi, from 4 pm to 7 pm. Those cultural items were
created by Sri Sri Sankardeva, the greatest cultural and
social reformer of NE India.
On this occasion, the association takes the pleasure to
invite you and your associates/journalists to make this

It was very nice to get the news about the celebration of greatest saint of Asom Srimanta Sankardev, who was the founder of basic culture and peace in Assam, which is still followed to maintain our strong history.

RComm to provide CDMA service in Northeast

The Reliance Communications has received government nod to provide CDMA services under the existing Unified Access Service Licences in the entire north eastern region. The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has granted in-principle permission to its subsidiary Reliance Telecom in this regard, RComm said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange. The RTL would offer CDMA services also in addition to its existing GSM services in Assam and Northeast service areas.

Police recover PTD in Rongiya

Black Widow kills 1 more in Haflong

The face of violence atop the North Cachar hills refuses to die down. The Black Widow militants have killed one more people after he was kidnapped from Haflong town on Sunday. According to information, Gopesh Langthasa, an Airtel distributor after kidnapping from the Haflong town on Sunday. The militant outfit has already confirmed the killing of Gopesh saying that they had cash deal him. But nobody from Gopesh family has come to the police with an FIR.

Shooting champs in Guwahati from Feb 16

Eleven 11 Arjun award winners among the 220 shooters will be seen in action at the Master Shooting Championship in Guwahati from February 16. According to information,the event is being organised at the shooting range of Kahilipara. It will be the Sardar Sasson Singh Sixth Mater Shooting Championship.

ASDC rushes delegation to Delhi

The ASDC has rushed an eight member delegation to New Delhi on Tuesday to reiterate the demand for an autonomous state covering both North Cachar and Karbi Anglong districts. The demand came up in 1986 but the Centre has been maintaining silence. Now they hope the demand this time will be effective in view of the preparation for formation of the second state reorganization panel. The delegation will call on home minister Shivraj Patil and Opposition leader L K Advani.

Poaching: 1 more rhino killed in Kaziranga

Again poaching has rocked the Kaziranga National Park on Monday night. The body of the rhino was spotted at the Bagori range on Tuesday morning. The poachers took away the horn after killing the rhino with 303 rifles. The incident took place hardly 24 hours after forest minister Rockybul Hussain suggested a slew of measures to stop poaching in the state’s sanctuaries. The park authority restricted the entry of media people who rushed to the sport when the message was spreading like wildfire. This is the fifth rhino to be poached this year itself. Rhino horn with poacher arrested at Nagaon
