The Diaspora from Assam that call the UAE home is all set to celebrate Rongali Bihu in a grand way on the 29th of April in the glitzy desert city of Dubai. The landmark India Club has been chosen as the venue for the event which is a formal culmination of festivities that take place in various households in the community. No wonder, it is a much awaited event for all those who yearn for the magic of Bihutolis at this time of the year.
It was the year 1999 when UAE first witnessed Rongali Bihu celebrations in a organised way. With each passing year the celebrations have grown in scale and grandeur thanks to the tireless efforts of the Axom Xamaj, UAE and active participation from each and every member of the community. Rehearsals for the big day are underway in every household and everyone is eager to put his/her best foot forward as it is a rare opportunity in a foreign land to showcase the cultural mosaic that is Assam.
Over the years acclaimed artistes from the Assamese music and tinsel world have graced the Bihu celebrations in the UAE and this year is no exception. Barasha Rani Beshoya, the darling of the Assamese silver screen ; the versatile Diganta Bharati and noted percussionist Partha Goswami will be the star attractions and fans here are eagerly anticipating a virtuoso performance from the trio.
