Showdown indicates Congress solely leading

The vote count process which shall determine the future of Dispur and the shape of things to come in the next 5 years is fervently on. According to Times of India reportage Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi for the first time on Thursday said the Congress would win enough seats to form the government in the state. This is much in keeping with the ongoing morning vote count reports that Congress is leading in places in Upper Assam-its all time stronghold.

Much before the culmination of the entire vote count process media reports coming in confirm Indian National Congress (INC) as leading with 72 while the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) is with an unbelievable 7, All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) 14, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) 5 and the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) 15. Despite gross allegations of corruption and anti incumbency factors prior and during the Assembly Elections leveled against the Tarun Gogoi led BPF Government the vote pattern so far noticed indicates the possibility that Congress may for the third time turn out the to be the single largest party which will succeed to form the next government in the state.

According to available Election Commission of India’s Party-wise Result Status known for 115 out of 126 Constituencies Indian National Congress is leading with 73, AGP 9, AIUDF 14 and BJP 2 while the BPF is following with 13 and others 4. Speculatively Tarun Gogoi will second Bimala Prasad Chaliha in the history of Assam Politics to form a Congress Government rooting out Regionalism.

In an exclusive to a TV News Channel a confident Tarun Gogoi stated that he has been saying since long that the Congress will be able to form the Government without support. He said that it was evident that the Congress would lead since it had worked for the public selflessly and so have succeeded in achieving the people’s mandate. He mentioned that the people of Assam are a politically conscious lot and all the anti Congress propagandas by a section of the media including the Farmer Leader have proved otherwise and fallen to deaf ears. Instead happy with our performance the people have given us more votes than previously despite allegations. On being asked about the possible number of seats the Congress is expected to come out with he said “We might get 65 or it may even rise to 70; there is nothing unobvious about it.” He said that he is indebted and grateful to the people of Assam who have offered a chance for the consecutive third time to serve them and this has increased their liability manifold. As far as garnering friendly support from other Political Parties he concluded that even though it is not necessary this time around yet we shall maintain our ties with the BPF.
