Haflong girl makes Dima Hasao proud


Despite all odds, Ms Narmita Dutta, student of St. Agnes Convent High School, daughter of Sri Nepal Ranjan Dutta and Nilima Dutta,Haflong makes the district of Dima Hasao proud, securing highest marks in English in the entire State of Assam in the just declared result of High School Leaving Certificate Examination 2011.


She also secured letter marks in six subjects like English, General Science, General Maths, Social Studies, Advanced Maths and in Hindi.


Talking to the media persons Narmita said she was very happy and wanted give all the credits to her parents and teachers for her success. She wants to peruse her studies in engineering.

Strong resentment was expressed by the Dima Halam Daogah (Jewel) over the army atrocities on its cadres those are staying at their respective designated camps at Maibang, Jatinga, Kapurcherra and Haflong communicating office on July 10. Paiprang Diamsa, former Publicity Secretary, DHD(J) argued as to why the security personals were harassing their cadres even after surrender of their arms en masse on October 2, 2009 and maintaining peace. The 100 hours bandh from tomorrow 4 am by the North Cachar Hills Indigenous Students Forum (NCHISF) has been withdrawn following assurance from the government for second round of talks on July 21. The forum demanded bifurcation of NC Hills into two Autonomous districts under 3 (C) of Articles 244 (2) & 275 (1) of the Sixth Schedule to the Constitution.
