ITANAGAR : The State Government has announced Ex-gratia of Rs 20 lakhs for diseased families with government job and Rs 10 lakhs for seriously injured person in the recent protest against government's consideration to give PRC to 6 communities. Three protesters were killed in police firing and fine others injured in the recent orgy of violence in the state capital.
Answering to questions by media, Chief Minister Pema Khandu, said that the government is setting up a committee to assess the damage done by the protesters.

JORHAT: The toll in the spurious liquor tragedy refuses to halt even after the loss of nearly 200 people in Jorhat and Golaghat districts forcing the government to launch a massive crackdown against the illicit liquor traders.
According to information, at the Jorhat Medical College Hospital alone 97 deaths have been reported since Friday night and all these people were rushed from Salamira and Titabor areas. Others died in Golaghat civil hospital. A few other patients died without treatment at the Salmira Tea Estate on Sunday and Monday.

JORHAT: The ghost of spurious liquor continues to haunt the state after it claimed 150 lives in Jorhat and Golaghat districts from Friday. Around 137 others are still battling to survive at Jorhat Medical College Hospital and Golaghat Civil Hospital being attended by a section of medical specialists.
Doctors told Assam Times that the toll might touch 200 mark since as many as 40 patients are in critical condition. “We have been closely monitoring the patients who need further observation. Some others who are slight hit have also been examined separately,” said a doctor at the Jorhat Medical College Hospital.

Jorhat: Both Jorhat and Golaghat districts have turned into a valley of death where at least 115 people died after consuming spurious liquor on Thursday night. JORHAT: Eight people died and around 10 others have been battling with death at hospital after consuming spurious liquor in Jorhat district on Friday.
The incident took place in Turung and Gorajan villages where a group of villagers allegedly consumed illicit liquor prepared in two houses in both the villages.
According to reports, hours after consumption they complained of stomach ache and started vomitting and were rushed to the Jorhat Medical College Hospital where they died.
Local residents alleged that despite repeated complaints the excuse officials have not been firmly dealing with these traders.
