I -Day celebrated at Udalguri

The 65th I- Day was celebrated at the Parade Ground of DC’s Office, Udalguri.The Deputy Commissioner, Udalguri, Thaneswar Malakar, as the Chief Guest of the function offered floral tribute to the Father of the Nation “Mahatma Gandhi” at Gandhi Smriti and then he proceeded to the main dais to inspect the guard of honour at 9.00 AM and hoisted the Tri-colour in presence of the around 14,000 people.23rd Bn. SSB, Bhairabkunda, District Executive Force, Assam Home Guard, various Scouts & Guides from different schools and colleges participated in the March-Past. Distinguished guests namely- Rihon Daimari,MLA,Udalguri,Rakheswar Brahma, MLA, Mazbat, Mitharam Basumatary, EM,BTC,Col.S.Upadhyay,Commanding Officer, 315 Fld Regiment (Kargil);Debajit Deori, Superintendent of Police, Udalguri, Deputy Commandant SSB etc attended the celebration ceremony.


In the celebration District Level award for Excellence in Public Service was awarded to Manik Ch. Sharma, District Level award for Excellence in Public Administration was awarded to Dr. Lakshyan Kr. Baro, District Level award for Excellence in Public Security was awarded jointly to Tabu Ram Pegu, APS, SDPO, Bhergaon subdivision and Nabin Ch. Boro, S.I. (UB), O/C Harisinga P.S., District Level award for Excellence Child Scientist was awarded to Dupardipta Das, Excellence in Agriculture Field was awarded to Netra Prasad Sharma, Appreciations for small savings agent was given to Dhairya Pathak etc.


In view of the celebration of the Independence Day exhibition stalls were displayed by 315 Fld. Regiment (Kargil) and different Govt. departments and SHGs. Hon’ble MLA of Udalguri Rihon Daimari inaugurated the exhibition. Moreover, a tree plantation programme was also arranged in view of the celebration of Independence Day. Fruits were also distributed amongst the patients of ‘200 beds Civil Hospital’ at Udalguri in connection with the celebration of Independence Day.A friendly football match in between DC’s XI Vs UTC XI is organized at DC’s Office Parade Ground in connection with celebration of Independence Day.

Wild loner kills lady in Udalguri

A loner wild elephant killed one Lambrey Boro (45) killed and injutred Kathang Boro (38) on Wednesday night (April 20) at 7 PM at No.3 Bongurum in Udalguri district, near Bhutan border. Another girl Bibari Boro (16) escaped unhurt. They were returning home from a Sat Bihu feastival. A few loners permanently staying in the border villages of the district have been causing menace to people for months.

25 monitor lizards rescued at Kalaigaon in Udalguri

Flying snake found at Bhairabkunda

Astronomy workshops held at Kalaigaon

Aryabhatta Science Centre,Kalaigaon under ASTEC (Assam Science Technology and Environment Council)organized two workshops on basic astronomy at Kalaigaon and Bananguri in Udalguri district on March 29.The two astronomy workshop were sponsored by PRAG (Pragjyotish Amateur Astronomers' Association,Guwahati Planetarium under department of Science & Technology,Assam government.The first workshop on basic astronomy was held at Bananguri HS at 11 am.The school has been situated in a remote village in Udalguri district.
