KLNLF holds talks with the Centre in Delhi


KLNLF and Centre agreed to carry forward the peace process in karbi Anglong district when they held a crucial round of talks in Delhi on Tuesday. Both sides believed that it will end hostile activities between the government and KLNLF in the Karbi Anglong district of Assam.


Led by Rezak Dera, the KLNLF delegation and the home ministry officials agreed to restore permanent peace in the hills distirct. Talking to reporters after the meeting, Dera said that they were satisfied with the Centre and called it a was positive step. KLNLF kept in abeyance its hostile activities last year evinced its keen desire to talk to the Centre.

APSC scam: APS officer surrenders in Guwahati

An Assam Police Service officer who was wanted in connection with the APSC scam has surrendered before the investigation officers in Guwahati hours after 15 others were arrested. 

Identified as Dilip Kalita, the assistant commandant with 5th Assam Police Battalion in Haflong surrendered before police In Guwahati on Wednesday evening who was later arrested. 

With this, the special investigation team set up to probe the huge scam has arrested 16 officers while efforts are on to nab nine others who have gone underground. 

When produced, fourteen of these ACS and APS officers were sent to police remand where the investigators have been interrogating them at the Kahilipara based APBn headquarters. 

Police officers probing the scam are producing two officers Raju Saha and Amarjit Das before the special court on Thursday seeking the duo in their remand for interrogation.

Flood hit cry for help in crisis

The Assam government deploys evacuation tram in the flood hit areas and announced relief measures. But those displaced have not yet received anything. Talking to assamtimes, affected people in Dhemaji and Majuli said that the relief measures are confined to som selected pockets. Thousands of people in he remote areas are still remaining trapped without any help.




Rajnath appreciates Gogoi

The man who has reasons to smile in the north east chief minister’s conference in Guwahati on Saturday was none but Tarun Gogoi.

Union home minister Rajnath Singh appreciated the chief minister for firmly dealing with the Adivasi carnage in Sonitpur and Kokrajhar districts last year.

Singh said that the carnage was stopped from blowing out of proportion only because of his immediate intervention. He further lauded the role of security forces to deal with these incidents where over 80 people lost their lives.
