Two people were killed when a car slammed into a truck that was parked on NH 37 at Dudhnoi in Golapara district in the wee hours of Sunday. The accident occurred when a full speed maruti zen car (ML 05C-0088) moving from Shillong to Kokrajhar hit the back of the truck (AS 02-E-4798), which was parked in front of the Banabasi temple of Dudhnoi. The car driver and the truck handyman died on the spot, whereas three others who critically injured were first admitted to Dudhnoi hospital and later shifted to Goalpara civil hospital. The deceased were yet to be identified.

Abhiruchi Sports Day observed at Dhupdhara

Along with the rest of the state the 28th Abhiruchi Sports Day was celebrated at Dhupdhara in Goalpara district with the usual fervour on Saturday to mark the birthday of Assam’s first Arjuna Award winner Bhogeswar Barua. On the occasion a procession took out throughout Dhupdhara town by the students of Dhupdhara Girls' High School and Khairuddin Primary School. Several sportsmen and sports organizers in large numbers participated in the procession. Earlier a felicitation programme was organised at Dhupdhara Girls High School premises where five sports organiers of the locality were felicitated.

2 NDFB cadres arrested at Dudhnoi

Two NDFB cadres were apprehended by security forces and seized arms from their possession in Assam-Meghalaya border near Dudhnoi in Goalpara district in the wee hours of Saturday. According to Dudhnoi police, after receiving an information, the ninth sikhli regiment of Indian Army of Damra launched an operation at Bandarshi village in Assam-Meghalaya border where the two NDFB cadres were held. One countrymade AK47 rifle, one handmade SBBL gun and five rounds of ammunition were recovered from them. It may be noted here that Dudhnoi police and army nabbed four NDFB cadres from Dudhnoi area on Tuesday last and recovered arms from them.

Bomb Blast on Railway Track at Darrangiri

A powerful bomb planted by unidentified militants on a railway track exploded at Darranggiri-Moishkhuli in Goalpara district damaging little portion of the tracks in the wee hours of Independence Day.Luckily, a Guwahati to Bongaigaon bound goods train carrying oil had a miraculous escape and went ahead with its schedule.Till now, no loss of lives and property has been reported. IEDs recovered at Pancharatna and Dudhnoi

On Friday, a major tragedy was averted when security forces retrieved one powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) from the Guwahati bound Guwahati-Puri Express train at Pancharatna Station in Goalpara district. The IED was retrieved during a routine checking exercise by the police and CRPF personnel in coach numner 6 of the Guwahati bound Guwahati-Puri Express train in the Pancharatna Railway Station. A 55 year old person was trampled to death by a wild tusker at a Village near Dudhnoi in Goalpara district in the early morning of Saturday. After damaging the house the elephant attacked Jogesh Nath when he was sleeping at his house along with other family members that night. Huge cache of explosives recovered at Dhupdhara, two nabbed

One person and a driver of a Sumo Victa were apprehended at Dhupdhara in Goalpara district on Thursday evening after they were found in possession of huge quantity of explosive materials. The recovered explosive included-80 pieces detonator caps, 10 pieces Gelatin sticks, 10 pieces electric detonator, 20 kg ammonium powder and a bundle of codex wire (32 feet). Ganja Seized at Dudhnoi, 4 arrested

In a major haul, police officials seized about 30kgs of ganja worth Rs 1.5 lakh from a passenger bus at Dudhnoi in Goalpara district on Friday evening.Four people have been arrested in the context. The heavy consignment of drugs were discovered when Dudhnoi police followed a lead by an unknown source and raided the bus AS01-AC-9722 on the National Highway.
