Haflong Jagannath Bari completes 100 years

With the lighting of holy lamp, Sri Debojeet Thaosen, Chief Executive Member, Dima Hasao Autonomous Council inaugurated the 4 day ‘Centenary celebration of Jagannathbari’ Haflong ceremonially on Tuesday (28.2.12) in presence of eminent personalities of Haflong.


In this connection a solemn meeting was also held, wherein Sri Debojeet Thaosen, Chief Executive Member, Dima Hasao Autonomous Council attended as the Chief Guest. Sri Kalijay Sengyung, Executive Member, Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, Sri Dlip Borthakur, Deputy Commissioner, Sri Somanath Upadhaya, Sri Anil Biswas, Sri Ramendra Langthasa attended as guests of honour.


At the outset Sri Prashanta Sadhan Chowdhury, noted educationist welcoming the guest recalled the history of the establishment of the Jagannath bari and also appreciated the endeavour of those who have contributed a lot for the development of the Jagannathbari.


This was followed by felicitation of guests with holy book and portrait of Sri Sri Jagannath.


Sri Thaosen in his speech assured all possible help towards the temple while appreciating the members of the celebration committee with the hope of great success.


Sri Sengyung also appreciated all the members of the managing committee of Jaganath bari for their untiring efforts for the development of this temple all along.


Sri Borthakur, Deputy Commissioner, explained about the Sri Sri Jagannath, the lord of universe.


CEM also released a souvenir ‘Antaranga’ published to mark the occasion.
