NERIST Ladies Club organise cultural function


The Cultural Function of the Ladies Club of North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), Nirjuli, Arunachal Pradesh was organised last evening - April 20 in the Institute Auditorium. It consisted of various songs, dances, recitation and concluded with a short skit which highlighted some of the important and burning social issues. The talent of the members of NERIST ladies club (NLC) were appreciated by one and all present there.


Ms. Binni Yanga, the noted social worker of Arunachal Pradesh and Padmashree Awardee-2012 and Chairperson of Oju Welfare Association (OWA) attended the function as Chief Guest. During her speech Ms. Yanga was emotional and remembered her early school days in Rajasthan in late 1971 during the India-Pakistan War. Seeing the enthusiasm of the ladies of NLC reminded her of her youth. She fondly remembered her long association with NERIST. She explored her journey as social worker after leaving her service as school teacher and later police officer. She also spoke of donating Re10, 000 to NLC as a token of love.


Earlier director NERIST Prof. Dipankar Pal who also attended the function as Guest of Honour expressed his deep gratitude to the daughter of the soil of Arunachal Pradesh and Padmashree Awardee Ms. Binni Yanga for her dedication and selfless service to the common people of Arunachal Pradesh and India in general. He applauded the enthusiasm of ladies club for organizing such a colourful show.


Mrs. Lopamudra Pal the patron of NERIST ladies club in her welcome address said that from now onwards NLC will try hard to be an active social organisation in this part of the state.


The programme enthralled the audience for about two hours thereby taking them to different parts of north-eastern states. The programme ended with vote of thanks given by Mrs. Shamin Sultana Treasurer of the NERIST Ladies Club followed by the National Anthem.
