Concern over slow pace in Mahasarak and BG

The Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC) Dima Hasao District Committee expressed great concern over the slow pace of the ongoing works of East- West Corridor Roads (Mahasadak) under NHAI and Conversion of Broad Gauge Railway line, along with a lack of quality particularly of the works of Maha sadakat some parts, within the area of Dima Hasao which is one of the hilly districts of Assam stated a press release issued by Nigen Naiding, Publicity Secretary, ASDC Dima Hasao Dist Committee

The release stated that it was acceptable to some extent that delay in completion of such works of four way lane roads and broad gauge railway line in Dima Hasao district might be attributed to the state of being hilly, difficult terrain in most parts of Dima Hasao district coupled with some factors such as Law and Order problems yet in this latter case security arrangements was learnt to have already been made. But the way the different companies/ agencies/ contractors/firms execute the works of such National projects of roads and railway lines in the Dima Hasao district appears to be in such a slow pace that it (construction of four way lane roads and BG Railway line in Dima Hasao) could not be completed within the time bound period. In fact, until and unless the Government put more emphasis on the ongoing workshops of construction of Mahasadak and BG Railway line in Dima Haso district by taking more effective measures such as engaging more supervising officers of high level to keep a strict vigil over the ongoing works of roads and BG Railway line as to whether the execution of such ongoing works were carried out properly in full swing as per the specification of the works concerned and up to the mark, the execution of such works of Mahasadak and BG Railway line would be a far cry from its completion in Dima Hasao district.

ASDC Dima Hasao District Committee therefore urged the Central Government and Assam Government to put more emphasis on the ongoing works of Mahasadak and Conversion of Metre Gauge to Broad Gauge Railway Lines in Dima Hasao district so that execution of such ongoing works were expedited and carried out as per the norms of the specification of the work concerned and up to the mark in the area of Dima Hasao district

Meanwhile, ASDC Dima HAsao District Committee deplored the company/ agency/ contractor/ firm which were responsible for the slow pace and a lack of quality of the ongoing works of construction of Two way lane road under the National Highway Authorities of India (NHAI) from Hafiong to Jatinga which was connecting the main East-west Corridor road in Dima Hasao district. In the same context, it was learnt from reliable sources that a firm named as SIMPLEX, which had undertaken the works of construction of Two-Way land toad between Hafiong and Jatinga, has allotted its work as Sub-contract work to some Mr RajibGhose. The ASDC Dima Hasao District Committee in this regard strongly urged the Government to take appropriate action as per law against the Firm/contractor concerned for such slow pace and substandard quality of the ongoing works and also demand the Government to cancel the works allotted to the existing Firm/contractor and re-allot the same construction works to other Firm/contractor which could complete the work within the time bound period along with its performance of work up to the margin case the present trend of such slow pace and low quality of the works on the part of the existing Firm/contractor continues. Further, it may be noted here that, since the inception of execution of the said ongoing works of Two way lane road in January 2011, it has been bringing about a blanket of dust particles for long four months which has been health hazards for the school going children, office-goers, pedestrians and commuters alike. In order to contain the growing blanket of dust particles, the vehicle with the water filled container has been engaged to sprinkle water along the affected road, but such remedial measures has virtually not been effective in containing blanket of dust particles, thereby affecting all concerned.
